Non flashy/stylish head unit?

Hi,

So I've just bought my fist car in 10 years - a Z4 Coupe Sport 3.0si. Needless to say I absolutely loving it.

The sound system is not great though and so as a first port of call, I've been advised to change the head unit as apparently I might be pleasantly surprised how good the speakers are with the right power going through!

Every place I've been though just has head units that are all bright lights and flashy! Does anyone know where I can get a head unit that's a bit more understated and stylish? I've seen this which is ok...

Best option is an amplifier with high level input.

That way you get the best of both worlds. OEM looks whilst feeding good power to the speakers.
 
I have the upgraded business hifi in mine with carver dsp and subs. It sound better than the dolby pro logic kit in my Volvo XC90 which I'd previously rated as the best in any car I've had..

I'm sure I've read on here it can be retrofitted if you get the bits from a donor car?

What does the upgraded business unit look like, my car has a business head unit and the FM stations are quite poor, just wondering if yours is different to mine.
 
wow your kidding right?

mine has the business head unit, but the sound is mega, also seems to have a bass somewhere, and a load of speakers, dotted all over the inside, i have no complaints.....

other than starting sentences with

So.......

do people talk this way?

so...... :D you most likely have the 10 speaker carver system, not standard in all cars
