Does anyone have any experience of double glazing?

Looking to replace current double glazing in our house. We moved in 2 years ago and the house is around 13 years old, the windows are ok, but some have dropped a bit and don't shut so easy and others don't seem to seal properly and therefore you can feel a draft.
Any ideas on price, is there a rule of thumb such as £xx per window ?

And finally I guess, any one on here sell double glazing and want to give me a quote

If you are talking UPVC OP then try for recommendations on installers & get at least 3 quotes .
If going for woodgrain effect its much cheaper to have white on the interior / grained ext , doesn't look as good though imo but can save a sixeable amount on a full install 8)
On average ? A front door with decent panel £450/£700 installed
Window on average 5ft x 4ft £250/£350 installed
The actual DGU itself isn't that expensive , in average window approx 10/20% would be the glass cost ?
Id do it for you both chaps but doubt you would fall within my boundary of travel

It's a bit of a minefield unfortunately, there are so many makes out there, some utterly abysmal in quality and then some very good ones. They vary in price as well due to uv values, how thick the units are, wether they are gas filled or not, toughened for downstairs or not, got metal frames inside or not. I'd suggest looking at as many as possible, and don't go cheap, false economy, but you have to try to make sure their worth the cost, personally I buy windows with metal re-inforcing in them, have a look at loads of samples and you will see which are crap or not, rubbish 1's feel rubbish compared to good ones, and you will get a feel for decent ones. It'll be a ballache but the more research you do the better, it'll be worth it in the long run. Sorry it's not what you want to hear but that's how it is, IMO of course.

Interesting Mr Wils as I was told that the colour made no difference to the quote. We replaced dark stained wooden windows iwth UPVC last year. Redwood colour outside and white inside. Got 2 local companies to quote both around the 6.5k mark. 1 x large bay, 2 x door, 9 Windows.

Last month I had all the windows and doors in my Norfolk holiday home done in white UPVC. 2 bedroom terrace town house.

Patio door, front door, kitchen window and 3 bedroom windows, total around £3.2k, pleased with the result, good quality job.

Supplier i buy from ( using Rehau frames) will knock off approx 12/13 % for grained ext / white int , another 12/13% again for white on white .
