Noisy Roof Closure

Hi all,

I know this is a very common issue but I've tried searching my problem on the forum and can't seem to find an answer.

My roof opens and closes fine, seems pretty quick to me. However, as the roof is closing it gets quite noisy as the roof is locking into position, but only at the point when the roof is all the way closed, just not locked.

Could this mean the motor needs looking at before it breaks? And if so, is it easy to see?

Mine is noisy as well but works fine, its always been noisy since I bought the car two years ago, I don't think its the motor about to fail (sincerely hope not!).
Be interesting to hear other peoples thoughts, especially anyone having a new motor fitted and finding the operation smooth and quiet.
 
Mine does as well, 3 years in and the previous owner had had a new one fitted by bmw, so should be ok.
