Noises coming from car

I've started hearing noises coming from, what seems like, the front offside wheel area. Initially it was a rubbing noise on full lock, the wheel arch has rub marks, so I sorted it.

But it's still happening. It rubs on full lock, when going over bumps I get a 'squidgy' noise (leaking damper?) and I also get a rotational noise, that is audible at low speeds, but can't be heard going faster, this one just sounds like the disc rubbing at 1 point per rotation. There is also a metallically noise over bumps going faster.

I took the car to Mark Purcell (of Oxford BMW fame), who was kind enough to give it a quick drive/look, but he thinks it's probably the handbrakes shoes at the rear. However, he didn't get to hear half the noises as for some reason it didn't make them (as soon as I hit the road home it started again!).

I've not hit any big pot holes or had any knocks, but it seems like that'd be the cause. Any ideas before I just book it in and wait for a large bill?!

Did the warranty run out then mate? Suppose its difficult to say what the noises could be without experiencing them. I know the air ducts from bumper to brakes were loose on mine and would catch on full lock...

no, it's still covered. but do you think they'll cover something like this? They'll say £120 to inspect, refundable if it's warranty...

If not, I waste £120 then take it to Mark as it's so much cheaper.

Hey buddy
North Oxford Bmw are pretty cool
Andy is service manager there

Take it there and ask if they'll ramp it for you
Say I recommend you to them
Just say Marc with z4mr :)

There are a few of us meeting up at the M40 services (junction 3 Beaconsfield) on Friday evening. Pop along and we can have a look and listen :) .

Ok, this never really went, but BMW and Mark Purcell both telling me nothing is wrong, so i just left it.

I'm now getting a much noisier disc rotation type noise, but the big one now is like metal on metal knocking, even over small bumps.

There is also like a shimmer noise that fades in and out.

It's booked back in with Mark, he's going to have it for the day and I told him to take it for a long drive. Something is defiantly wrong. Since the original post, it's not felt as planted.

Hmmmm def sounds like disc or pads of perhaps handbrake not released?

Check the tightness of the bolts on the braces at the top of the suspension turrets.

They back off and can cause a "knock" tell tail signs are that the paint around the bolts curls slightly as its scratched.

Hand brake or wheel bearings for the rotational noise or check the disc covers for stones, debris, etc :)
