Quite an well-known clip from a Castle Combe track day - and coming off on one of the more popular corners.

Although the most spectacular one I've seen there was at Avon Rise where a Porsche GT3 clipped the back wheel of an open-wheel historic GP car and ended up, upside down, on the other side of the catch fencing. If it had been a regular Carrera then there'd have been no roll-cage to protect the occupants.

'Orrible, I've never tracked, what's the insurance situation, can you get track insurance? if not this just isn't funny

Yes, but it only covers your car (i.e. 1st party only).

If you crash you're covered.
If someone hits you - you're covered.
If you hit someone else - you're covered, they are not (unless they've bought their own insurance).

Cost from £50/day.

Thanks, Interesting, lets hope our man had coughed up the £50, would be good value in the circumstances!

Looks like a bit of lift off oversteer to me.Just hope he had some track day cover

Let's hope he coughed up more than £50, as that would only get you a couple of grand's worth of cover.

To cover my M5 for £10k, it was £100 with a £1000 excess.

The Z4M was £250 for £25k cover with a £2500 excess.

However, you can exclude mechanical cover (i.e. bodywork/chassis only) and pay less. You can also pay more and reduce the excess.

It used to be the best option to find an normal road policy with track cover, which I used to have with Adrian Flux when I was doing one a month. You'll pay a higher premium initially, but it will cost much less over the year. Mine was about £1000 with Adrian Flux (with track day cover), and £800 with Liverpool Victoria (without track day cover).

We all know the feeling when someone dings a door :x :( , cant comprehend how I would feel if I wrecked my car .

My first Westfield died horribly back in 2003 when I developed a tank-slapper at 60mph and span into several immovable objects, each of which was much more solid than fibreglass panels over a tubular steel chassis. I was utterly heart broken. Its replacement (see photograph in my sig below) just isn't the same (although of course I do try to love it as much as the original  )

I was a an event at Silverstone several years ago when a guy flipped a 911 without insurance, I dont know what the total cost was but it looked like a write off. Why you would pay £100k for a car and not insure it is beyond me really
