Hi all,

I'm going to look at a black 2.0 on an 07 plate with 18k on Saturday, and I was pretty much sure that was the car for me, until I got the insurance quote from my normal broker!

I'm male, 32, 9 years NCB, clean driving license since 17.... £950.

Is that anywhere near right?

I see you've got a deal with an insurer, but if I'm reading the post right they wouldn't touch me until I've had the car for a year?

Anyway, thanks for any replies!

I reckon you can do better.

I'm younger than you (26), have less NCD (5 - although I don't think it makes much difference once you get to 5 years), and am looking at getting a 3 litre. Am able to get quotes on one of them in the 800-900 range.

Try admiral - they work out best for me.

Yep, seems a little high to me seeing as I have an M, am 30 and have just 1 years no claims and I pay £1000ish with Admiral. Admiral are usually the cheapest.

Most people's policies have gone up this year I think JustinB.

Sometimes if you put the name of a female second driver on the policy it drops it considerably. Also try quotes from esure. I just renewed mine after Elephant were looking for £700 (I'm 37 with 5 years NCB). Managed to get fully comp through esure for about £450 - and I live in London with it parked on the street.

Best of luck

Seems rather steep. Good luck with the testdrive - I've not regretted opting for the 2.0 engine - plently of umph for me.

Interesting article on the rising cost of car insurance in today's Times. P53.
