No Z4 for now it's a lighter path.

So, I've been hunting the classifieds since the demise of my beloved ///MR. Alas I couldn't get my head around buying another one. For sure I would have kept the old one for many more years, but, Since I am now retired I took this as an opportunity to save myself a small fortune each year and decided to go for a car that I had always enjoyed driving, but never actually owned myself.

So Saturday morning Mrs G and I picked my own little Mx5 up from from Exeter and then enjoyed the long way home in convoy across the moors.

I could not leave it without a reminder of how beautiful Bangel's Flame Surfacing was though.

I will miss the old girl. But delighted with the way my new stead get's down the road. :driving: :D

Sensible choice Buzylar and I'm sure even though it's no replacement for an MR that it will bring you a lot of driving pleasure!
Which one's yours fella?

It's burgundy. :poke: and Mrs G has owned it for several years now.

Got to say mine gets down the road a whole lot better, more like the Mk2's our son owned did.

I'll take it as red. :D
I do prefer the sharper lines of your newer one though.

Yep, the new one does look a lot nicer than the red one

How intriguing. I've just traded in my 25th Anniversary Edition MX-5 for a 28i.

MX5 + MX5 = 2,030.

Love the MX5 but prefer the mk3.5 TBH. Nearly bought one before the E89.

my own little Mx5

I`ve never really liked the look of the MX5 and it put me off buying one even though people said how good they were to drive but I like that newer version it looks much better

Congratulations, hope you build more good memories with this one

Great choice congrats. Would be interesting to know how it fares as a daily space wise, I'm still taken aback by how small they look on the road.

I've been looking at the 2.0 RF as replacement for the Hyundai Kona but just on the fence at present whether I can live with the physical size. My old Z3 won over the MX5 back in 2008 as the boot was just that bit larger.

Love the look of the latest MX5 though.

Tim.

How does it drive compared to the z4?

Only had it since Saturday. It gets down the road well though. Enough immediate punch for short overtakes, though the engine comparison to an S54 ends right there. The steering is lovely, far more direct. The whole car feels much lighter on it's feet. It is very well planted on the road too. Unlike the mk3, which I find a bit lose and lardy to drive, in comparison.

I liked the look of the RF. The view out the rear is not clever though, put me off. Time will tell on boot space. All my climbing gear fits in. That is the current deffacto test for me. It will always be a fun car. My Mazda2 remains for the daily chores.

No doubt we will be off on weekends away in it. So will discover how it fairs with a bit more luggage in the boot.

Such a shame you are Zedless, but at least you have a new toy now and seem pretty pleased with it. Enjoy. :driving:

Before I found out about Z4s due to a YouTube guy called Joel, I spent my time looking at mx5s, the mk3.5 with the hardtop convertible. I sometimes wonder if I made a mistake in not buying one instead of the z4. Probably more reliable.
