No wonder Putin doesn't fear the West....

Spot on... on the one hand they claim to be more educated, balanced individuals, and then ruin it all by spouting off like a typical playground bully.

As for the situation in Ukraine, the fact that Putin can tell the West to back off and we effectively do so is very telling. It's a bit like trying to wage war against terrorists.... if they are willing to go to extremes for their cause and you are not, how can you win? What is even worse is Russia and China seeing how ineffective we are and going on a territory grab. You can have all the military might you like, but unless you are willing to use it and deal with the concequences then it's ultimately a bit pointless. The egos of the western countries mean that we pat outselves on the back as being global superpowers, but when it comes down to it... are we really?

It's not the old ships etc it's the fact they could wipe out the UK in around 20 minutes, think that's how long it takes for their nuclear war heads to reach us.

The look of his military chums of shock when he went on camera to announce their nuclear readiness was really scary, they looked bewildered and must be thinking where on earth this is going.

Tim.

This argument makes zero sense, by that logic anyone who hasnt personally experienced anything just have opinions and are therefore "narrowminded" and "uneducated". Does that include doctors, historians, etc etc?

You learn by reading, watching, listening as well as experiencing and on that basis if someone rocks up to a complicated discussion with just the Daily Mail under their belt I doubt they have a well informed perspective as I'm sure you would feel the same if you went to University and the tutor was lecturing from the DM or if your doctor had a framed DM article as their qualification on the wall

So you think Teachers and Lecturers are balanced individuals? Really? From what I remember from School and Uni they were very biased indeed!

Getting all your views from the Daily Mail, sure you are probably not the most balanced, but this isn't the age where we buy "a paper"... we get bombarded with articles all day long from all sorts of different papers and sources. So as long as you combine the Daily Mail (which I am not a fan of) and other sources then you can indeed be a balanced individual.

Nope, didnt say that at any point. (I believe they are in fact some of the worst in terms of bias)

I agree if you are looking at various sources with various biases then yes you will have a balanced perspective but that wasnt what was being said, it was specifically people who

... shoot from the hip, generalise, read the Daily Mail, listen to GB News, vote right of centre ? ( in some combination there off ?).

So very specifically biased and non balanced people.

So someone who votes right of centre is not balanced? What about left of centre? That rules out the two main parties and a massive percentage of the UK population. Are you suggesting none of those people are balanced?

Why must everything be some sort of all encompassing mass declaration :headbang:

No not everyone who votes right of centre is unbalanced and not everyone who votes left of centre is unbalanced hell even someone who votes far left or right can potentially be balanced.

The reality is that a very small percentage of the population are actually balanced in terms of their views, the Main Stream Media (MSM) are so polarised and partisan these days its almost a full time job trying to cut through their bullshit to try and find some nugget of truth.

Perfect example, the Ukrainian forces on Snake Island that were "slaughtered" by the Russian warship after telling them to go fk themselves.... total bullshit, it is a fabrication yet it went round and round and round and round the news over and over and over again and is STILL being reported even though its false.

Well it stemmed from B21's antagonistoc statement in the first place, so I'm not going to apologise for pulling it apart a bit.

With you on the "fake news" though, the "Ghost of Kiev" story was fake too... and that's all going to get worse over the next few years with deepfake tech getting better and better.

Not sure if I am balanced or not, but I am not going to be told that the way I vote and the news sources I look at dictate whether I can be dismissed as an unbalanced individual.... you may as well add "drive a BMW" to the list.

Fair comment

I saw that story and instinctively called bullshit but never looked into it as its not overly relevant in the wider context, I get why these stories come out its propaganda although interestingly the Ukrainian navy confirmed that the Snake Island guys were fine so its not necessarily coming from Ukraine itself. 100% with you on the deepfake stuff thats totally wild and does not bode well for being able to find the truth in the future especially with how good the voice emulation is as well :(

Its all about degrees, I suppose the reality is that no-one can every really be unbiased or know all the facts its just about pursuing that information and being open to being corrected / convinced on an issue. This whole affair is a perfect example for me I completely underestimated Putin here and firmly believed that this wouldn't happen. I was proven completely wrong in that.

I am sure you have met the quintessential DM reader before, they literally ONLY get their info from there and simply repeat what it says, those types were the target of the comment I believe.

You and me both... shocking :(

True, although mostly it's "The Sun" and "The Mirror".... The tabloids are really getting close to the line with their headlines suggesting we're about to get Nuked. They are going to cause widespread panic before too long.

The former US president said that the Russian president had made a “smart move” by sending “the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen” to the area.

Both completely bonkers imho

Yes, this all seems to have been washed over / ignored

Let’s hope common sense prevails and his ‘chums’ do something about it.

This will be the final solution - they will realise that he is doing more damage to Russia and will end his reign pretty quickly if needed

Id argue that this could be partly due to Brandon's weakness both mentally and from a governance perspective. Afghan withdrawal under Brandon was the biggest blunder and embarrassment for the US since Vietnam. Also lets not forget that there is a HIGHLY shady web of connections going on between the biden family and Ukraine in terms of very suspect business deals, all exposed by smackheed Hunter's laptop that was immediately suppressed in the lead up to the US election

I think his military chefs will go so far but will end it if he tries to go too far - they looked shocked as he announced the special alert for his nuclear forces

I do hope the cooks are not in charge, unless it's Steven Seagal.
