So, what will you do if told no touchscreen?

My initial reaction would be to say I'd just cancel it, but tbh I'm not sure what I'd do instead! As mine is still likely to be several months away I've probably got time to think about it, and possibly supply may improve again before my build is started.

[ref]blaster1956[/ref], [ref]Scubaregs[/ref], I have to say with the current changes/deletions/shortages this is one that I could live without. I don’t use my touchscreen much at all. I would rather loose that than my HUD to HK. I doubt very it would make me cancel my order just like the wireless charging and digital key, they wouldn’t bother me either.

All my personal opinion, people have different things that are important to them

Of course I see your point. You are obviously wrong being Scottish and all that.

The touch screen is essential for waze and most apps on apple car play.
It’s also a hell of a lot easier entering a destination using the touch screen rather than a scrolling wheel.

Wouldn’t be happy loosing HK either.
I’m annoyed at losing the digital key though as they have improved it to the point you can unlock car with phone simply by walking up to it. I think digital key is back on new orders anyway.

Regardless, if you ordered a car with HK, touchscreen, and HUD only to have your car delivered without it then you would be vexed.
It’s not like you have any other choices. You can’t just buy a much cheaper used car as they are hens teeth and bloody expensive. They have you. You can’t go anywhere. Need having similar issues from what I hear.

I had a lot of trouble setting up the digital key on my phone and you literally have to hold the phone a few mms fom the correct position on the door handle to get it to work, definitely does not work at a distance for me.

I have an untouched touchscreen. My OCD won’t allow it to be used :)
I hardly use touchscreen, only for moving map. Not sure how to move left/right and up/down using the wheel.

I never touched screen in my previous cabrio, because there was no need for it.

I appreciate we love our cars and toys and I like things just so, but as an outsider, left in 2015 car technology they do seem like first world problems?

Apple and bmw have updated the system and what should have happened is cars made in the latter part of this year would be the ultra wide band format which would open when you walk up to car.

Re you’re first point 🖕🖕🖕

I also don’t use Waze or Apple CarPlay so that’s maybe why I wouldn’t be fussed.

I wouldn’t accept a car without HK and HUD but would without a touchscreen if it was the choice of that or no car.

Anyway, hopefully they’ll have everything sorted out for when I order my Lci model in one of the new fantastic colours that will be available :poke:

Hopefully by then there will be enough paint left over from the Supras for the LCI G29

Peter, we were discussing this last night and yellow and bright green are on the no fly list and funnily enough would be two of my first choices.

I pointed out whatever it was would be an actual colour and all I got was head shaking in response :headbang:

I’m hoping for something like lava orange or similar as that wasn’t mentioned/banned

I appreciate we love our cars and toys and I like things just so, but as an outsider, left in 2015 car technology they do seem like first world problems?

Of course they're first world problems but then so is the 35is having too soft suspension and all the other issues you have with yours, difference is you can, and are, doing what you want to rectify them as you see fit, and good luck with them, but when the G29 started off with these options and the cost of these cars being what they are, I'm sure it's a bit annoying as this tech is something that owners are prepared to pay for and most indeed want.

Total first world problems. Still our problems though.
You can apply that expression to all issues.
People ordered a car with money they worked for and want a spec they ordered. It’s like going to a restaurant and ordering a £50,000 steak with peppercorn sauce and chips…..You get served an steak with no sauce and the chips replaced with peas.
I’m sure it’s still delicious, but it’s not what you ordered!

[ref]ori[/ref], Change your restaurant and you will be able to buy a Ferrari.

Haha. You should try this steak. ;)

Fair points…and I’m sure I’d be pissed too if my favourite toys had been deleted

It’s a strange world when many people like those in Afghanistan can’t find enough to eat and here we are…

I and most of us here on this Forum are very fortunate in so many ways…

Just a perspective on life..

I’m putting that comment down with “finish your dinner! Don’t you know people are starving in Africa!”
Ps. I always finished my dinner to help those starving.

I didn't know that you could enter a destination via the touchscreen. I really must RTFM :D

I also had to Google waze which shows how out of touch I must be

I have touch screen, hud and apple car play and don’t use the touch screen but use Siri instead. Works ok in combination with the iDrive selector
