No Stock Or ETA For Replacement Airbag Module - What To Do?

As I understand it there is a device you can get from eBay that codes out the light on the dashboard so it will not fail an MOT. Original fault will of course remain. There was mention of this on a discussion thread some months ago.

Is that the device that is essentially just a 5-10 second time lamp connected with a switched ignition? If so, ive seen this - but unsure how I would even go about fitting it, but its definitely going to be my only option while I look for the correct module.

That was what I thought [ref]bigwinn[/ref] could assist with.

I've done quite a few of these for people all over the country now.
As have [ref]bigwinn[/ref], [ref]street[/ref], and [ref]colb[/ref].
We have not been able to get non-compatible numbers (as defined by realoem) to work.
Whether this is compatibility with the car or just with the other modules we don't know yet.
Would be great if we discovered that changing a whole set would work, but if it did I'm pretty sure prices would go even higher!

I can’t see why a full set wouldn’t work, the satellite modules should only talk to the main airbag ecu anyway, and I can’t see the main airbag ecu module not working with different ecu numbers, as otherwise anyone who’s had a main ecu change would need to change their airbag modules and no doubt a lot of other things.

It’s the price that’s the main concern, if I knew it would work, I’d have no problem paying £££ for the whole set, but I wouldn’t want to buy a whole set at that risk… although I suppose it would help out the whole Z4 community if this is a common fault
