Hello forum. I've been searching everywhere for what my problem can be. I have a 2006 BMW z4 3.0i and it will randomly not start. Sometimes it'll start up every time and other times it won't start up at all. Sometimes I can keep attempting and it'll start perfectly fine. I will turn the key and there is no click, no crank, literally nothing. I have checked the battery, alternator, and replaced the starter. I have no idea where to go from here so.I am turning to you guys. I read something about an integrated supply module? Could this be it ?

Also there are no codes.
Please give me any input thank you so much!!

Hi, it's quite common for the ignition switch to fail on these, giving you exactly what you are experiencing.

Is it a uk car ? If not and is US spec you have a clutch switch which stops it from cranking without the clutch pedal pushed. Or if it's an auto you have an inhibitor switch on the gearbox. which could be the fault.

UK spec manual, more than likely to be ignition switch though

Hope this helps.

ignition switch +100

cheap and easy fix DIY.. takes about 10 minutes and part is about 35 bucks. no sweats

As above, ignition switch good place to start. Had to change mine. eBay about a tenner for a used one from quarry motors. 10 minutes to fit and all is well in the world.

Hey thank you everyone for responding so fast. I went a head and ordered a new Ignition switch. I pray that this is my problem because it was a bummer putting in all that work for that darn starter to find out it wasn't it lol.

The car is US

so to get this correct. everything in my car works while the igntion switch is turned on it just doesn't turn. My radio still plays, my horns till goes off, headlights still turn on, it's just when i go into that "third" positon where it cranks it does literally nothing.

This is the symptom of an ignition switch?

If the ignition switch was the problem then it would still crank just not turn on right? My car isn't cranking at all.

Here is a short video of my problem if the "youtube" button doesn't work I'll post a link

Ideally you need to check to see if you have lost the feed coming from the ign switch on crank, simple enough with a test light or volt meter at the switch itself.

If you have a feed then it could be the clutch switch or starter relay.

Excellent news. Position three must have gone bad.

With mine it would crank but now fire. Luckily I noticed when this happened the ignition light did not come on. So I had to turn the key to position two until they did before going to three.

Presume you bought a used one. New are around £70 from memory.
