No PAS?

I got into my zed after work yesterday, turned the ignition key as I usually do (turn all electrics on, wait for all the lights that do go out to go out and then fire her up). But once the engine was running I tried setting off and realised that the steering felt like it was set in concrete :? I noticed that the yellow PAS light on the dash was illuminated. I turned the engine off and started it up again within 1 minute and all was fine. Any suggestions/experiences like this?

Not with the Zed but on my Ibiza I would get this occasionally if there wasnt enough power in the battery.

Turned out to be the alternator not charging the battery properly.!

Why do yo uturn all the electrics on which based upon the descrition seems to indicate headlights? You should be starting the engine with everything off to reduce battery drain.

Could well be a low voltage from starting coupled with a tired battery, just stopping something electronic from working the PAS electric motor.

I took turn on the electrics to mean, turn the ignition to II and wait for the warning lights to go out. Could be wrong, if not, OP :poke:

One thing though, CJ, I've been around the forum for about a year, but it seems to be there have been a glut of electric based issues recently, or is that just me?

Your right - I should have gone to Specsavers

I'd stil put it down to a one off electircal low voltage glitch

There do seem to be a good few posts related to electrics.
