No officer I was going 135 in a 50 not 125 get it right!

here anything over 50 km/h is considered street racing or stunt driving and...

- Police can issue an immediate seven-day driver’s licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment for street racing, participating in a driving contest or stunt driving.
- Courts can impose a driver licence suspension of up to 10 years for a second conviction, if the second conviction occurs within 10 years of the first.

50km/h! :o

31mph - surely that's in town, I've driven faster than that on highways in Canada - I don't know what the exact speed limits are, I was just matching the other traffic

EDIT: A quick Google for Canadian speed limits gives me

15–20 km/h (9.3–12 mph) at shopping centre entrances and parking areas
30–50 km/h (19–31 mph) within school and playground zones
40–50 km/h (25–31 mph) on residential streets within cities and towns
50–80 km/h (31–50 mph) on major arterial roads in urban and suburban areas
70–90 km/h (43–56 mph) on major arterial roads, arterial highways and at-grade expressways
80–110 km/h (50–68 mph) on grade-separated expressways/freeways

And, it appears that the 50km/h referred to is the amount over the speed limit - which makes more sense, more than 50kph over the limit and you get hit hard

My first and only ticket for 64mph on a motorway.

Yes that's right, bloody roadworks on the m1, the cones ended about a mile back, I started to accelerate, another camera up ahead got me!

Too late

Pretty sure Jonny wouldn't be convicted for "bragging" over the internet...obviously everybody is 100% honest over the interwebz, but a written post of a forum is hardly proof. A video on the other hand.

Anyway guyz, would love to chat but I'm off to drive home in my 1.7CDTI Astra along the A281....I hit 178mph (only indicated mind) on the way home yesterday....on a corner.

Never had any points or speeding tickets etc, had my first parking ticket this week though lol

As has been said 135 in a 50 here and you wouldn't be driving your zed for a while (don't know what your situation was - but in this country anyone doing 135 in a 50 deserves the book thrown at them imo).

One final point - it's a cool character who's first thought when caught by cops is to get a photo to post on here lol :-)

be careful what you say...

Only ever had 3 points about 6-7 years ago now, 61mph (and slowing) right as I entered a 50 on an empty dual carriageway, camera van on a bridge, £60 fine. Stupid really, as I knew/know they hang out there occasionally :slaphead:

I vmaxed my first 2.5 Z4 and my Focus ST on a long, empty stretch of dry Kentish tarmac at 4.30am on a Sunday. Not had the b@lls (or opportunity) to do it in my current car. Maybe maturity is finally catching up with me

That guy was sent down for searching the internet and asking for ways to pervert the course of justice - There was proof he was speeding

135mph ... on that road in your pic.... you must be nuts/idiotic/stupid/irresponsible (plese delete)

im no stranger to speed but at least do it on a sensible road.

my tickets were 95 and 93. M56 goingt o macnhester airport. same day, same copper, same camera, just different directions. 2x 3point fixed penalty notices and 2x £60 fine. i was lucky 96 ad i would have been sent to court. so potentially 9 points, much bigger fine and any other conviction they could get to stick so maybe dangerous driving etc. i was lucky.
No bud I was driving on a road almost exactly like this one http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qEIBPUSZ_2M/TBMY1_3UQWI/AAAAAAAAAOw/mXL7eINcdfc/s400/Asphalt+Road_medium.jpg
But with 3 lanes on each side and a big gap of grass in the middle the posted pic is a side road I pulled into but I am young so I know that's played a role in my actions, but to be honest I'm not sure the ticket of 300$ is worth it so is say it was about £203 for you guys

Also I have to take defensive driving :/

But being young is about learning from mistakes

AH right i see.... probably better place. ... if i could get away with just a £200 quid fine for 130 i would speeding more often! im often on the m56 late at night. 3 lanes of straight flat empty road doing 69.99mph how dull. i think its just age creeping up on me. my fines were a mobile one. well the same mobile one. it was just karma catching up as me and my mate would often speed up the wirral etc. i burnt out 2 coil packs on my v6 mundano going flat out :) (at 70 obviously)

Exactly why I plan on going to the track some time!

problem with a track is you cant get up to 150 and sit there for a few mins zipping past stuff. unless a decent straight bit wouldnt expect you to totally max out the car.

speaking of that wile i was coming back up the a49 indulging in some ropey overtaking i was wondering what 130+ would do to our cars. so when the likes of top gear etc do the fast runs they say things like the tyres will only lat 10 mins at 220 and the fuel runs out in 30 miles etc. where is the tipping point? how long would our tyres last for at say 135?

Don't get caught. If you are not spotting the Rozzers before they see you, you shouldn't be speeding as you are not using your full attention.
I use my Harry Potter invisibility Cloak, works well and I have a clean licence.

Passed my driving test 1st time round when I was 17.

When I was 18/19 I got 3 points and a £60 fine for doing 43 in a 30 (hidden unmarked camera as the local parish council had campaigned so that made it legal not to have warning signs up).

Then 6 months later another 3 points and £60 fine for doing 62mph in a 50 (mobile van by the side of the road).

Unfortunately as it was literally a month short of my first 2 years driving, my licence got revoked as you're only allowed 6 points on the totting system in the 1st 2 years.

So I had to fork out for a new provisional, redo my theory test, and my driving test. Which i passed 1st time again :)

Was back on the road about a month later, but at the expense of about £300 in fees etc.

However, I took it on the chin and it must have taught me a valuable lesson, because since then I am much more sensible and cautious.

I've not had a point or fine since (11 years) on... touch wood.

I'm not saying im an angel, but I think you can learn a lot from experience and am a good safe driver now, you can still have a bit of fun now and then but never take any unnecesarry risks and always keep your distance.

Dan

To gain the relevant speed rating, the manufacturer must run the tyre at the rated speed for at least 10 minutes, so ZR tyres would last at least 10 mins at 150mph and correspondingly longer at lower speeds - stresses on the tyres do not increase linearly with speed so my gut feeling is that ZR rated tyres would easily outlast a tank of fuel and be capable of a number of similar runs

Yep hews hiding behind a bush with a radar gun that's why I plan on getting a radar detector not just for speeding but you never know when there's a pissed off cop with a bad day who's looking for someone to ruin there day that way I can atleast go slower then the limit ha
