No more runflats

So I thought about keeping the run flats after lowering the car on Eibach springs and spacers. The ride definitely became more compliant (springs are 'progressive') - but I still had the itch to move away from RFTs as the ride was still unacceptably firm.

I had the tyres fitted last weekend and as many have said before, they completely transform the car. Less road noise, more grip, less tramlining, more steering feedback which loads up nicely and a more comfortable ride.

If you're thinking of moving away from run-flats, do it!

I've only had my Z a couple of weeks but if I hadn't already ditched the runflats I would seriously be thinking of selling it. As it is I'm loving it!!

I usually associate the word compliant with "softer", "more forgiving" and hence more comfortable. Are you saying that after fitting eibach springs to the car with RFT it was more comfortable than stock springs? I would have expected the opposite.

Yes 100% - that's because they're a progressive spring. I nearly kept the RFTs but had the itch to dump them and it's been a revelation.

This is something I'll be considering doing, I have run flats and have already notices the tram-lining..going to start to look for a set, I like the idea of black alloys on my blue Zed time will tell

You won't regret it. I felt like selling the car as I hated the ride but now totally in love with it!

This replacement Z i just got has them on,and tbh i had forgotten how hard a ride that are and go over a cattle grid over15mph and it slips n slides all over the place,so just put mi spare set on with rainsport tyres on and wot a difference ,a comfy and grippy ride again .

Any opinions on the pressures for non rft's? 225/255/19. I was recommended 36 front and 34 rear. Is lower pressure in the rear advisable?

Yes 100% - that's because they're a progressive spring. I nearly kept the RFTs but had the itch to dump them and it's been a revelation.

Maybe you didn't have stock springs as they are progressive as well? Hence the thin pig-tails that often snap off. Stock rears rarely lasted more than a few years, mine were changed at about 15k miles / 3 years for the first MOT retaining stock, and then again at about 40k miles 7 years later. Hopefully your E's will last longer

Definitely stock springs. Sold them on here.

Great advice on ditching the RF tires from everybody. Just drove my first 50 miles on Michelin Pilot 4s Stock 17" and I'm telling you they are quieter, smoother, grippier at all speeds. Softened the seat up quite a bit too I have new struts and shocks coming so she will ride like new.
