No M Springs in the UK???

Hi all

I suffered a broken rear spring about 4 weeks ago and have been waiting ever since, they are on back order from Germany. I'm cheesed off with waiting. I can still drive the car because only a bit of spring has broken off, but that's not the point. I expect this with TVR not BMW.

That`s rubbish.Just a few years ago I used to get parts for my old rare 1987 M3 within two days but less commonly replaced parts (like gearknob and gaitor) took a couple of weeks only.

not a lot you can do other than wait - bit of a pain thought id agree. i had a 3 week wait for a cruise control stalk recently !

BMW (dealers, BMW UK & BMW AG) are holding less and less stock as it costs money to do so.

This is one of the reasons I sold my e34 M5 - it was taking too long to get parts, in some cases 3 months.

Would seem like the perfect opportunity to change to some Eibach or H&R springs to me. They're only about £200 and will look sweet. Then send a bill to BMW for them.

BTW Toplad, how many miles on the car?
Broken rear springs seems common. My 3.0 Z4 Si Coupe had one break at around 32000 miles.

Seems to be very common over there. If you haven't done so, go to this thread and post your info, it's very informative for all: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9219

Where do you send the bill for the increase in insurance premiums for having a 'lowered' car.

I had a hell of an argument with my insurance company when I told them I'd replaced the electronic suspension with manual stuff. They wouldn't believe that I'd kept the same ride height as all aftermarket suspension lowers the car (they said).

Mine was in today to be looked at, they confirmed one of the springs has gone. Gotta wait until the begining of Sept before they will have the parts. Gutted as I was hoping to sneak in a couple of cheeky laps of the Ring whilst over in Belgium for the grand prix next weekend.
