No M model planned

There will be no new Z4M.

Until that is, everyone has already spunked thousands on the 35 - and they will bring it out around facelift time...

He's talking about the forthcoming Z2 I assume, which may be based on the 1 series. I'm sure there is every chance that won't be ugly. In fact it may adopt a lot of cues from the new Z4 and that can only be a good thing.

A Z2M .... MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ....

Doesn't make sense to me, it's lighter than the M5, M6, E93 M3, X5M, X6M :idunno:

If V8 from current M3 is put in new Z4 (shorter wheel base), it may make 50:50 weight distribution more difficult. Extra weight at the front may affect the handling/steering of the car.

The M3 has two more seats than the Z4, surely that is enough difference.

The E46 M3 and Z4M used the same engine, so that argument surely doesnt stand up.
 
Well i'm going to keep mine for a while if there is no new M. also Z2M sounds interesting might be similar to a lotus elise, light weight thrasher. I suspect it might have a 4 pot which might be turbocharged. cant see them putting anything in it if they are so carbon conscious. Future is interesting.
I would miss a V8 in the Z4. potent combination but prices might be in 911 range.
 
Definately, the way all companies are moving to smaller turbo-charged units unfortunately the future for big engines is not good :(
 
I'm fine with no new Z4M.

Means I've got the last of the legendary //M inline 6's sat on my drive and the last //M car to be fitted with it. Happy days. :thumbsup:

i recall bmw also said there won't be any M for the first z4 when it was newly released back in 2003

new z4 is heavy and it will be difficult to tune it effectively? and then there is an M x5 and X6? hahaha

for sure there will be an M for the new z4 down the line
 
If a new M was ever part of my short term intentions, and they didn't build one, I would opt for a Cayman S without any hesitation.
 
The Z2 won't appear for at least another 18 months if it's based on the next gen 1 series. Not seen any pics of a disguised roadster bombing around the ring. Can't see it being an Elise type car, but I hope BMW prove me wrong!
There's going to be a Mini Speedster which might be good especially in JCW trim, but it will cost £25K based on Mini prices. A Z2 to compete with MX5 at about £20K would be good.
 
A normal z2 hopefully around 20k but a z2M around 25k would be perfect i suspect it would be more like 30k+. I'm curious. :wink:
