No longer wanted, Found. Z4 E86

Unless the car is always parked inside. My 1993 Golf does not have a single rusted bolt on it.

Cars from near the sea will always be a block of rust and cars parked outside will have all their rubbers perished.

Mine didn't have any receipts prior to 2018 thanks to it sitting in a dealership when the GDPR legislation landed. Lots of dealerships around that time instructed their branches to destroy receipts and paperwork as they invariably contained PII. If you are hoping for a huge paper trail of receipts you will only get that if the car generally has moved on in a succession of private sales, and with so many people just trading in nowadays the number of cars like this are going to be very limited.

In terms of owners, again the number wouldnt concern me at all. What would concern me is when they owned the car. 5 owners owning the car for 3 years each over the last 15 years is a very different prospect vs 5 owners of which 4 owned the car in last 2 years. vhceck.uk is a great site for checking the ownership details, shows the year/month/day purchase dates and ownership time period.

…I'm not usually one to pay high end for an example which will inevitably require money being spent in areas which other examples out there have already addressed.
…that would be me.

The E30 vert I bought a few years ago was from Jersey. Everything was rusty, including the tiny screws in the speedo binnacle. Took a lot of time and money to put right and I vowed never again to buy a coastal car.

Getting back on topic, I have to agree with the approach that these are old cars now and the chances of finding a low owner, garage queen thats for sale are low - not impossible, but low.

Remedial work such as waterpumps etc are part and parcel of owning these vehicles, but then saying that, of the 5 Zs I’ve owned, I’ve never once had to change a waterpump.

My current Zed was bought on low miles, medium owners and with limited paperwork. Hasn’t put me off because underneath all of that there’s a good 18 year old car.

If you have the time and patience then you’ll probably find what you’re after (most likely on here), so good luck!

As a serial Coupe owner I hope you find the right one soon.

But as the UK only got 1,596 manual 3.0Si Coupes you may need to be patient if you don't want to travel too far!
