Are you a member of the BMW Z4 UK Owners Club? (Facebook)

There is a sliver 57 55k miles for £13.2 on there.

I would love to view that if it wasn't 6 hours away from me! Its just to long a day to view a car, it would end up being a 13hour round trip. To risky to view a car for me.

If it’s a good one then buy it.
Lots of bad examples about

Its tempting, but I'm in no rush and would really like to view a few more to compare & not just buy the 1st one I have seen. If it goes, it will just be a longer wait my end.

I'm not sure if anyone knows the previous owners at all though? Olly has only had it a few months so they might be active on here. Unfortunately for me, its not got much history in terms of preventive work. Which is a concern at its current price point. By the time the water pump, aux belt and suspension has been renewed etc (A need for me at this age), I'd be in rather deep financially with it.

I agree, not sure what happened to the pricing for an E86 si though as they are currently right at M money.

As a former Z4 E86 owner, may I suggest that you don’t get hung up on M Seats, M Steering Wheel etc. as these are all retrospectively swappable and easy to come by. Also water pump, if it hasn’t been replaced just get it done yourself (or do it yourself) for added peace of mind.
Buy on condition, it’s one of the best looking cars there is, but tatty ones look . . . well, tatty.
Lastly, and personally, whilst I think 108s can look great on a E85 I don’t think they suit the E86 very well. You’d be better off with CSLs, MV2s, 107s, 224s. Either way, wheels are easy to swap, so don’t let the wheels on the car influence your decision.

I appreciate you want to compare to others, however nice ones with low miles are rare so you will need to be patient.

It may also be difficult to find one that has had all the preventive maintenance you are after, and is certainly something that can be done in the future.

Also am I missing something a few times I hear people saying that some 3.0si are M money?

From what I can see it’s only M that have far higher mileage so it’s hardly comparing like for like

The very high end 3.0si prices overlap the M prices. The si was more around the 10k mark not that long ago with M being around 15 -18. Some very optimistic pricing for the si about at the moment whilst the M have not moved that much.

The owner of that coupe is a top chap. (It’s me)

Just sold my 71k mile black sport!

I wouldnt get too hung up on the maintenance bits, although they are nice to have, they shouldnt ultimately dictate you not buying a car that has been well looked after. Mine didnt have the water pump or suspension done but drove fantastically well and never over heated...and if you are buying a lower mile car, then these will be just normal things you would do any any car not just an E86 as it gets more leggy anyway.

Contrary to the above, MSport seats were brilliant to have straight from purchase. My mate has a Z4 without them and the difference is night and day. Looking on ebay at the moment not much in the way of offering on the seats, some red ones for £400 up to £900 for different colours. Oh and as a tip, when looking on AT some Coupes are listed as SEs by their database when they are not. Use the BMW warranty quote page put the number plate in and it will tell you the actual spec level when it left the factory https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Login/Index

Oh and I am with you on the 108s, they looked fantastic on my coupe :D

Thank you for your input guys, its much appreciated, genuinely.

This Z4c will be going alongside an existing weekend car, so as mentioned I'm no rush and happy to wait for one that fits the bill (No pun intended). I have seen a few reasonable examples on here going back over the last few months, most seem to of sold to a trader, but its good to see they do seem to exist!

With regards to the maintenance and documentation, for me it comes down to the cars value. If its a highly priced example, I would expect it, if its a cheaper example then its genuinely not so much of a problem.

However, this is generally a big thing for me as it shows the car has been well cared for throughout its life. Yes, having low mileage is great, but with these cars being over 15 years old now I do get put off when I see quite a few owners on the V5 yet only minimal basic service receipts. Mainly, as I see myself being the one having to carry out the necessary's over the next few years.

We're all different. I appreciate that you can carry out maintenance once you have found a good example, But, I'm not usually one to pay high end for an example which will inevitably require money being spent in areas which other examples out there have already addressed.

Sorry if I waffled on, hopefully you get my drift! :poke: Love these little gifs, reminds me of the forums back in the early 00's.

I think you can spend £6k or £15k on a 13 year old car and there will always be something that needs doing.
Age is just as damaging as miles on components.

Yes, agreed. Somethings are best tackled on cars after 10 years, others generally would of been picked up naturally.
