No Longer wanted for a low mileage 2006 - 2008 E85 N52 3.0 si Sport /M roadster in a silver / grey / medium blue btw

Hi, I am looking for a low mileage 2006 - 2008 E85 N52 3.0 si Sport /M roadster in a silver / grey / medium blue btw for reasonable money, happy to get my hands busy on it too if it is basically clean underneath, regularly serviced / frequent oil changes and a non Cat anything....

Going up to Z Fest This coming Sunday 14th August 2022, I don't know if any cars exchange hands from there?

I'm also happy to run shotgun and share petrol if anyone is travelling up via SW London or en route up the M1 / A1 / M40.... I can meet at anyone's home en route if there is parking.
.. Thanks Scott.

So following on from your post on Zedfest I think you are looking for an E85 3.0Si - which is quite a rare car as it looks like less than 1,000 were registered in the UK based on this database a forum member compiled here:- http://perso.numericable.fr/tonyz4c/

There were two 3.0Si models, SE and Sport but both had the same engine.

Sport models had the highly desirable M-Sport seats, M-Sport suspension 15mm lower so stiffer, M-Sport steering wheel (and in Coupes an anthracite headlining).

But some SE models had one or more of those features as options, either as new or fitted later.

Good luck with your search.

Ay Scott, don’t get confused with the M Roadster, which is a different bag of spanners. Expect to pay twice as much, go faster and have actual (RFL, insurance, fuel) and potential (parts, maintenance) much higher running costs. If you meant it though, you could be looking at an Alpina Roadster as well, which is possibly top of the tree from an exclusivity point of view.
Good luck at zedfest

Hi Scott,

Mine should fit the bill and well priced, near Cambridge:

Hi there, really appreciate your shout out, looks a lovely car. However I am looking for one with a lot less miles on it. I would be tempted if the engine needed replacing but then I'd be looking at a donor car with a lighter price tag! Thanks again. GLWTS thumbs-up :-)

I thought 89k was pretty low for a 16 year old car.

Whilst there are still a few garage queens out there, you might be in hen's teeth territory.

Unlikely that he would want a slush box though …

I always wonder about these references to Unicorns, as they are based on the unreality not the reality. So as my H as I enjoy your ' encouragement' I detect a tad of 'impatience' which has more about you than me. I do look forward to meeting you in person at Zedfest with my new care. Admittedly it is not rhe first csf which I shook hands on to find that the guy decided that £250 was worth breaking a handshake over, and I was most surprised as he was supposedly working for a Social Enterprise Partnership which surprised me as he had shaken hands on a price who He had suggested not me, all of £250 short of his asking price. He then de used to rescind his agreement as he apparently be bothered to get the MOT done, a basic requisite to doing a *condition report*

Were you on the lush after writing this mate or what?

I’ve met Scott and he’s an articulate fellow. That post was definitely out of character, but then so are most posts made at three in the morning.

Are you going to be selling home-brew at Zed fest? Can I put an order in?

Nope. To quote Noel Coward "I find those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter". For your own interest before judging others, I was born with an impairment and some of you might be able to relate to it as ADHD, and maybe a touch of autism as it comes under that broad descriptor of trying to describe the complexities of someone's mind. Gladly I know who I am, Ben very kindly made a helpful comment too as I met him in person at his house and we chatted not only about cars for quite a time, Ben is a lovely patient and interested chap. I am aware that some people on this forum are very active, and I will try to avoid posting up my thoughts at any time, but as someone who doesn't have much short term memory as my brain's neurons and synapses etc do not work in the same way as others, I do not make fun of other people generally I don't know, I have had to live with this all of my life. So curiously I have kept in touch with Ben, I met Eddie at Zedfest as I took a wheel arch liner up for Ben to him as I was nearby to Ben at the right time, and I met Mr Tidy too, and a couple of other good guys who were happy to gently talk through their knowledge of these lovely cars, and I learnt a lot. I also have purchased a Unicorn.

Hi, and I would always love to know people's 'real' names as I cannot relate to the a acronyms, my brain doesn't function that way - easily!

So I purchased a Z4 E85 N52 2007 grey / silver, which needs some bits doing like new roof motor, the release is working, I have to pull out the motor and test for a 12v feed, and resistance, have discovered the petrol cap solenoid isn't working along with perished rubber connecting cap to the car, the cup holder is broken, tried mending this but have ordered a new one for expediency as fist attempt seemed to end up in the ratchet still seemingly not working easily or well, the high bootlit brake light is cracked and needs replacing (white coliur plastic lense?) there is a creak on the os rear suspension which makes me wonder about the spring or the damper, squeaks when lean on top of wheel arch hard, coolant was seemingly dry in the top up area, the stick wasn't floating at all, and no water visible, the oil light has appeared only when turning the engine off, need to fit cruise control loom, have purchased a blue tooth loom, need to change over number plates as originals have an EU flag, clearly a St George's flag is more relevant being English, and oh the oil did I mention that, going through all the basic service items, also removed the lh drain plug for the motor well and found nothing in there, the motor, cables etc were replaced less than three years ago so have receipt and will talk to the repairer about this, especially if finding no signs of blockage or sitting water, I believe these motors of BMW have a five year warranty. Oh yes have been through fuse board and 20 Amp fuse is in tact.

I need to understand what tyres I've got. They're Bridgestone Potenza 18", are these run flat ones?

Thanks to all for your encouragement and any parts you can help me with I'll be happy to chat about buying etc.

It sounds as though there is a little more going on there than you were expecting, Scott. It just goes to show that low mileage doesn’t necessarily equate to low problems, particularly on cars which are now 15+ years old.

I have a new cupholder but it sounds like you have already ordered one.
I am about to fit a new third brake light. I got it off eBay (c.£24). I’ve fitted one before, they are pretty easy.
It should be easy to track down the suspension squeak, although you may need another pair of ears closer to the action. Most rear suspension tasks are pretty easy, it’s worth checking the rear springs as they do get localised rust and snap (clearly visible with the wheel off).
No coolant is likely to be a hairline crack in the header tank. Fill it up and monitor. To replace, you’ll find a “how-to” on here somewhere.
Ask srhutch nicely for a cruise control loom, he makes a custom loom at a very reasonable price. You will need a stalk too, which seem to be cheapest from BMW at the moment at about £100.
RBM (Ross) in Hook is your go-to man for roof issues. In fact he’s probably your nearest and best Z4 specialist for servicing and maintenance too.
Bridgestone Potenza are the original fit run flats. Ditch them as soon as you can before they ditch you.

I hope others can help with the bits I’ve missed. Good luck.

Scott, glad you got sorted out and fixing it is all part of the journey. Re you posting, you crack on and go for it, post whatever you want  the rest of us do
