No Longer Wanted e85 roadster

**Absolutely BUZZING with my purchase at the weekend!**

Hi All -

I am on the hunt for an e85 roadster, a 40th
birthday present from me to me. Ideally 3.0si manual with low(ish) miles and red leather. I have seen the one in the forum which ticks all the boxes, it's far away from me tho but not 100% ruled out.

The main reason I am posting is, I want the car for a bit of weekend fun and something I can share with my little boy in the hope that when he is older, it will have turned out to be a nice investment to pass to him but more importantly, something he will always remember as being daddys.

I have also seen a few 2.5si out there and whilst down a little on performance to the 3ltr, just wondering what you guy's thoughts on them are?

Thanks in advance
Paddy

Hi Paddy, and welcome to the forum.
Just in case you may be interested, I am in the process of putting together a forum ad for my 2.5si.
In the meantime it is on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165415687619?hash=item26838b15c3:g:Zy8AAOSw6p9iSY5C
I will be accepting lower than that from Forum members as it has been a forum car.

thanks enuff_zed - car looks great but mileage on the high side for me, thanks tho and good luck
Thanks for letting me know.
Tbh, the mileage isn't the huge issue you may think it is on these engines. More important is the work that's been done.
For example, if you get one with 50-70k on it, then you can expect the water pump to be near end of life, so check that's been changed.
Good luck with your search.

I've just put a deposit down on a car yesterday so was going to be listing mine in the next week or so. Unfortunately it doesn't have a red interior. How much of a deal breaker is that for you?

A word of caution only around 500/600 3.0si z4 msport cars were registered in the UK, if your "must have" list is not open to a little flexibility you could be in for a long wait. For example there are only 10 3.0si z4's for sale on auto trader at the moment that includes autos, manuals and both se and msport trim.

Mine is a 3.0si msport in Titan silver and a black interior. 76.5k miles, 6 speed manual. Let me know if you're at all interested and I'll get you some more details.

I bought my 2.5Si in 2016 with 32K miles on the clock and have covered another 60K mostly trouble free miles since then. The biggest expense I've had was to replace a corroded sump which I prefer to think was the result of too little use in it's first 9 years of life.
With the 2.5Si, you have plenty of oomph on tap (just slightly less than the 3.0L) and good fuel economy if you drive it in a relaxed manner (38 - 42 mpg). So the best of both worlds really. Plus cheaper insurance than the larger engines I would think.
Cheers,
Robert.

Hi @Dave1971 - The red leather is not a deal breaker, please send me some more details. Thanks / Paddy

Paddy, Welcome and good luck with your search. Just my opinion while mileage is important when looking for a used car. Maintenance is more important. How was the car cared for? Does it have a good historical maintenance record? And it also comes down to how the car will be used. Daily or fun weekend car. If daily, then yes lower mileage more important. As others have stated if taken care of these cars are very bullet proof. Just as example my 05 just went over 200k miles. I am 3rd owner, but it is only for nice weekend drives. It did come with extensive record of maintenance. For example, Oil changes every 3-5k miles. Anyway, good luck with your search hope you find the one of your dreams but in any case, the one you end up with will put smiles on your face.

I'm interested. What number can I call you on please? Where are you based sir? Be great to see more information and images?

Thanks

Apparently I need to send more msgs before I can msg directly. How many? Are you OK to post a number on here Dave? Or is it advertised elsewhere? Keen to talk with you tonight. Thanks
