No longer a virgin...

I recently purchased my Z4 convertible in December. When I test drove the car, it was way too cold to drive it with the top down. Since bringing it home, I've been itching to get my first taste of driving with the top down. I didn't think I'd get a chance to do that until spring, but today I'm proud to say that I'm no longer a virgin! It was almost 60 degrees today in Geneva, IL (Suburb 45 miles west of Chicago) so I decided to put the top down, turn on the heated seats and take the Z4 out for spin. I only drove around within my subdivision, but that should satisfy my appetite for top down driving until the spring. :D

Excellent.... :thumbsup:

Many including myself will often drive in temps as low as 40 F especially in full sun. With heated seats and a good windbreaker over even just a sweatshirt can be quite comfortable. Might want gloves below 50 F... :driving:

I took mine out in 5 degree celcuis today, didn't feel cold at all :driving:

Nice bright sun and very little wind made it possible hehe :D

5C = 41F... :P

Here in Houston, TX it's been in the 70s for the past week, however, as long as the sun is out I will put the top down in temps as low as as the 40's (F). Turn the heated seats on and the heater and, with a good jacket, you are good to go. As mentioned earlier, gloves are really nice. The only other thing that really gets cold are my ears.

At 8 pm it was still 59 degrees...so what did I do? I washed and detailed the Z! But with my luck, it'll rain tomorrow! Oh well, at least it'll look nice and shiny for one night!

My dad keeps glaring at me whenever I mention putting the top down in the 50-60 degree range. He doesn't realize it makes it easier to get in and out of.

I was told if yo drive a convertible with the roof up, the storm outside better have a name...

Coat on, heater up, roof down.

I'm a top down cold weather driver too, as long as the sun is out its actually pretty cousy with the seats on and heater on high. I driven in temps as low as 36 degrees (i did cheat a bit i used my Gerbing heated jacket i use for my motorcycles) and it was a blast! :thumbsup:

ps - i believe BMW recommeds not operating the top below 32degrees :thumbsdown:

Amen, brother!!! If it's that cold or nasty outside, you might as well just take the truck.
