Hi, I was wandering, is it possible to fit a USB socket, instead of fittind ipod kit.

I would like to play music of a USB stick; instead of fitting ipod kit? I dont want to keep taking ipod in car. Any sugestions?
The car is an 03 with flip-up satnav.

I have this in mine, but can connect iPhone and or USB

My recommendation (and many forum members will agree) is the Dension Gateway 300. It supports iPod and flash drives, but you can buy it without the iPod cable for a bit cheaper. Check out the link in my sig for more details.I personally don't like leaving a dedicated iPod in the car, primarily because I don't want an iPod to begin with (don't want to stuff around with iTunes on my computer). Being able to dump music to a flash drive is so much better! Plus with the GW300 you get full track information on your radio/nav display and track control through the radio buttons and MFSW.

The Grom and Dice units (as linked above) are cheap but it's well known that a lot of people have problems with them. I've not heard of anybody having issues with a Dension on their Z4.

Thanks for great advice!

I was looking at this headunit too-

It has DAB too, which is a bonus. And it does USB and Ipod all in one, and looks subtle, similar to dash...mmm

I fitted a Grom unit but it needed a new update that i had emailed from someone at Grom and it now works fine I can plug in usb's and bluetooth the phone to it!
But most of all the look of the stereo has not been changed for a horrid looking thing from Halfords!
OH Shxt! Now who have i ofended????? :(

Too many options :?

Do any of these suffer from the loss of bass volume as per the AUX cable?

Andy, please explain; how does that play music? I gather that`s just a charger...

Your right, there are that many oprions!

I wish you could just get a block connector fit it in the back of the headunit. And a USB adaptor at the end. Simples...music; through a small memory stick, no clutter, no ipods floating around, job done.

I am swaying to the parrot idea, as that also incoporates (hands free).

As I have the flip up satnav in my car. And recently discovered a bluetooth passcode card, maybe that would solve it? Cannot find a bluetooth function on the screen or through headunit...

I am also looking for a USB player, without Ipod.

Does anybody have experience with this unit?
