No Interest & Can't Resist

OK so I've had the Z4MC up for sale for a few weeks now with limited interest and no viewings.

Admittedly it's only advertised on the forum but I've managed to resist putting anymore miles on it.

However the Tesla is not due to arrive until April and there is no way I can stay out of the Zed until then.

So decided I might as well enjoy it while I still have it - to be honest I still might end up keeping it as a contrast to the EV experience.

Anyway I need to be in Kilmarnock next week on business which is a 500 mile round trip so a great excuse to get it out - any tips on good roads if I'm going up via M1, A1, A66, M6 & A75 :driving:

I'm getting a sense of deja-vu here.

Let's face it, I think you really would like to keep it so if you can then why not?

Sorry I can't help with tips for your route, but there are some great roads in Scotland. Hopefully one of our Scottish members will be along with some suggestions.

Have a great trip anyway.

If you can avoid any or all of the above. Then any route would be better.
However I can't figure out a way to do that. May be leave the Zed in the garage and fly to Prestwick.

My wife originated from Kilmarnock. Couple of years ago we did a long weekend tour up there in the Z.
I guess it all depends on the time you have, but basically, we turned left after Gretna and headed out through Dumfries and Galloway.
Can't remember it all, but there were a few good bits up past Loch Ken.

Like the sound of that and I'm coming of the M6 at Gretna anyway so will turn left at Dumfries for Loch Ken and head up to Kilmarnock closer to the coastline

I drive that route last week up to Airdrie, the boys in blue were in evidence from Carlisle north so keep your eyes peeled, which Tesla are you getting? I’m getting a model 3 performance mid March :driving:

Just noticed you’re turning left after Gretna so you should be ok

M6 onto M74 is quickest but boring motorway.

The A75 after Gretna to Dumfries is a better idea but busy with lorries etc. Put up with it as you can then head up the A713 when you get to Castle Douglas that will bring you out at Ayr. A good quiet road with just the odd logging lorry getting in the way but they’re usually tramping on and know the road well. The weather forecast up here for the first half of next week is snow so be careful if you’re bringing the Z. A few tight bends on that road :!:

You will enjoy the A713 to Dalmellington, but I’d turn off at Patna to take some of the wee Ayrshire back roads e.g. the B730 up to Kilmarnock. Most of them are pretty quiet and well surfaced.

The Model 3 but the SR+ - ordered in January and current delivery date is end of April.

On our ompany car scheme the M3P was an additional £270 per month and I've just completed a speed awareness course from getting caught in the Z4MC before Christmas :headbang:

Thanks if it looks like snow I'll end up taking the SAAB or staying in bed and sacking it off

Thanks - will have a look at doing that

Just wondering; so both you guys got a Tesla model 3 instead of a Z4M... Wow; what a strange change in cars
Or are the Tesla's the daily "boring" workhorse for "not excited" commuting and the Z4M the weekend fun cars? Could understand this completely...

I think the leccy cars are for dailys
Have a look at the video Nico Rosberg made at the nurburing with the Model 3 in track mode - but yes mine is intended as a daily :D

Like most EV's the Model 3 is fast...but fast and fun (or involving to drive) are two different things in my book. I don't want to start a big EV debate (these cars have their purpose as daily commuters)...but the only thing EV owners seem to say to other petrolheads is how fast they are in their EV. I have driven the most expensive Tesla model S in ludicrous mode; yes it is mind-blowing fast when accelerating and that is the only thing I can say about it that was impressive on the subject of driving. And yes it was cheap to keep it running, but that is normal and the main reason why most people buy these kind of EV cars.

Preaching to the converted mate I had a Mercedes 350e before the Z4MC - to be honest that's why I bought Z the S54 was pound for pound the best ICE experience I could find :driving:
