No heating in the car

Hi All, i dont know if anyone has had this problem, but i am getting little to no heating in the car. i have checked he fluid's in the engine and everything seems to be ok.

any idea's what might be the cause ?

Have you got a good bmw specific fault code reader?

Have you used it to see if any codes?

Like most things on E89 the hearing (ok heating) system is computer controlled driving a myriad of electro mechanical components…

Next…must get Apple to get a better spell chucker..

Que? :?
Does nobody EVER check what they have written anymore before posting?

ha ha, not had a chance to get the car scanned as yet, just not got the time at the moment due to wedding planning  . I did think it could be the thermostat - is there any obvious way to check or is it just get it taken off to check.

In the good old days you took it off & dropped it in a cup of boiling water (nice & scientific). Lots of squezzing of the rubber coolant pipes was usual also.

Looking at the part online, I don't see any sensor connections (could be wrong) so might be tough to diagnose electronically.

You could certainly monitor engine coolant temp / check operation of the fans maybe?

I had the AA Check it the other day, they said all the pipes were reading the right tempratures. i went to a garage this morning the mechanic said it could either be Thermometer or Heater Matrix

Just to get the stupid questions out of the way……
Is the adjuster wheel between the centre vents set to hot. If you have the heating set to blow to your body/ face and this wheel is on cold you would get very little warm air.

Usuallly on E89s its the blender air controls..they get stuck either full on or off which results in either no heat or turbo toasty heat coming out of specific orifices..

Yes i checked this yesterday controls still set to hot and the footwell heating still warm, when the fan is on low i have felt very little warmth, but when i put the fan on high dont feel it at all.
