No front plate!!!

I see a lot of vehicles driving around that are not displaying a front number plate. Several of the vehicles are distinctive and hab=ve been driving around like this for a long time.
I know its 'illegal' to not display a front plate but I thought about trying it myself.

Today my new plates arrived (new reg) and when I removed the front one I took a pic, I actually think the E89 looks better with a plate than without.

What do you guys think??

I agree some cars look better without the plate but that bit of space on the bumper of the E89 looks odd without one. It looks like the space for purpose made for a plate.

I’ve got a five digit plate on my car and have shortened it. There’s a 15mm margin at each end and it went thro its mot ok last year.
I think it looks good in that shortened format?

If motorbikes don’ t need them (safety reasons ) I can’t understand why other vehicle need to display them?
Camera vans can’t ping an incoming bike can they ?

I had a small plate on my old Nissan 300ZX, got away with it for years 8)

Very German (or Austrian)

Derbyshire Police are now reporting people not displaying a front number plate to the DVLA. Two reports and they can withdraw the plate and issue a Q plate instead.

I've seen a few people driving around without front plates. I'm sure they had the plate showing inside at the bottom of the windscreen instead. No idea whether that makes it legal though

Indeed. You can be prosecuted for not displaying a front number plate. It means forward facing cameras - for speed and other purposes - will not be able to detect your vehicle. It's no excuse or defence to say they are not needed for motorbikes so why should they be for cars.

I got mine from a company called Lush Plates - they do (or at least did about 6 months ago) custom plates based on the no of digits you want.

One thing of note, I was going to get shortened ones and was out checking the car to see what size to pick and noticed that the existing plates are screwed into the bumper at each corner so a shortened plate would’ve exposed the four screw holes so I just got a standard size 4D plate. I think they were approx £40 delivered which I thought was ok

I understand the reasons why they aren’t required on a bike but only make the observation that camera vans cannot ping a incoming speeding motor bike.

That’s correct Ronk, it’s a fortunate side effect of the ruling

Looks better with I think. It's one of the distinctive vehicles a gold range rover by any chance?
Yep you got it, although if you look closely he has actually fitted it so its lying on its back!! This guy is a complete moron, he goes to my gym, parks in the disabled spaces outside the door and shouts at disabled people when they get there before him....!!! Typical Range Rover (shed) driver...
