Indeed. I drove for 6 hours, attended my mother's funeral and paid £6,000 for the privilege. On the plus side, no fish died! :D

Not a great day for you, very sad and as you say very expensive.

Update -
Heads up to all electricity users - as you know we were off for 16 hours but as I didn’t personally report my house they wanted to wriggle out of it. I used the app and the 105 phone number and put in my post code and address - both times the automated system said they were aware of the situation and times were given for approximate re connection.
When you call the 105 you have to actually get hold of a real person and report it apparently. :headbang: So if this happens to you make sure you speak to a person. However they have made a no fault payment of £90.00.

When ours went off I went round to check on my mum as she had no phone available due to it now being connected via the broadband :|
I rang the Electricity board in case everyone assumed someone else had

The guy was really helpful and put mum on their 'vulnerable persons' list. He asked if she was ok and was able to keep warm and make hot drinks. He added if it was off for some time they had a system to check up on people on the list and even supply a hot meal if needed.

He admitted the system wasn't perfect but at least there was something in place
As I had called in I also received text updates on the fault and a likely reconnection time

Fair play to them
