No amp no DSP?

I've been thinking about maybe changing my head unit in my coupe for something more modern but have heard stories about the DSP system making things difficult. I have the nav screen and the extra speakers behind the seats where some have the cubby holes...but am I right in thinking the amp should be right next to the battery in the boot and easily visible? coz as far as I can see i just have an empty space/storage bit there so my question is if no amp....no DSP?

thats where i have seen it in other pics, but never had a coupe so unsure of hifi specs

I think it is actually on the bulkhead in the boot behind the seats.

Its definitely there on the roadster not sure on the coupe tho, i have seen pics of it next to the battery but it wouldn't surprise me in some cars it was located in a different spot
