I'm not a huge Rosberg fan, but shocked he retired. I would have thought defending your title was a point of pride.
Anyway, just wanted to share this awesome picture as a tribute and in case you guys hadn't seen it. The forces through the car and in particular the tyres are insane!

However next year is a rule and car change and it's far from certain if Merc will have such a strangle hold, maybe better to bring in a guy that is super quick in case of the opposition catching up. It certainly wouldn't bother Hamilton, he enjoys a fight.

Just let Lewis get on with it and give him a driver good enough to get 2nd place so that Merc can win the WDC as quickly as possible.
If I were Toto I'd want to keep Lewis as happy as a sandboy, from now on because he won't get another chance from Lewis. If Rosberg's retirement was a genuine shock after the Abu Dhabi race, then it makes you wonder whether Lewis has given Toto the ultimatum: "It's either him or me that goes". If Toto knew about it before then, he's a the untrustworthy snake that Ross Brawn says he is.

That was 3 seasons in racing ago, teams catch up, with the new rules it's absolutely possible that Ferrari and Red Bull will be much closer next year, Newey has had a much bigger input to next years Red Bull, Merc will of course have done their work too but it's far from a foregone conclusion that they will be so dominant.
I don't think Wehrlein has covered himself in glory this year. If anything Esteban Ocon has made more of an impact at Manor. I'm not sure Pascal is all that he's cracked up to be.

Alonso, Vettel, Verstappen, Raikonnen (if he can be bothered!) are all worthy adversaries, but then the 2017 Mercedes may turn out to be cr*p!
ETA: Did anyone notice that some "German" geezer who had a Finnish father, Belgian mother and grew up in Monaco won this year then jacked it in? And did anyone really care? :lol:

Max would be mad to leave Redbull as said above next year is about aero and Newey is back.
Alonso or Vettel would cause the same fireworks between drivers they had with Lewis and Nico so a number 2 driver makes sense but knowing Merc they will go for another top driver as all they seem to care about is a one two at every race
