I should close this one out... I successfully replaced the rubber trim from the donor part -- and used the 3M adhesive on the ends to lock it in place. One thing to note is that the metal trim piece (54377224676) is held on with 10 to 12 10mm metal nuts, screwing into plastic threads... don't overtighten! It's a used seal, but looks new and matches the patina of the other seals.
