Nice Z4 detail

nice detail
There is a long history to that part and btw it is affectionately called "the french fry".

Is it me or does this guy do all his detailing outside?

Engine bay looked dusty but not dirty, so no high marks for that part of the process. I don't like the greasy look after he applied the trim dressing. Old school "hot rod" look. Gets demerits in a judged competition here in my area.

Not taking a thing away from this detailer because he has technique, just not to sure of his products. On top of all this Silver/gray colored cars are very forgiving, even under a swirl lamp.

Nice job. I'd give it 6.45 out of 10.

Nice results, considering it's a customer car and done no doubt to a price rather than to a competition level.

20ducks - question - these guys seem to use a lot of APC (All Purpose Cleaner) Not something I've used before. Is this a safe solution to be slopping around? I've just purchased a cheap Ford Ka for my daughter and it has lots of dirt and filth just from a life outside and no real love and care and I'd like to use some generic product like this to shift general grime, algae, etc.

Ive got Megs Super Degreaser which is the business for arches and bits but wouldn't want to spray it over my paint work!

Im going to buy a foam lance soon. Want to see what our cars look like all white! lol

Cheers

I can see that with the Megs you refer to if it's great under arches you may not want it on paint, but what about this APC or are they the same? How general duty and safe is that? They seem to slap the stuff all over

cj10jeeper, The main area I use either Simple Green or a citrus based cleaner called Blast is in the wheel well area. My engine compartment isn't oily so I use a semi-damp small MF towel sprayed with Meguiar's Quick Detailing Spray (the cheap stuff) diluted 50%. I never dress the engine compartment because silicone only attracts dirt and the water based stuff fades away because of the heat. I've never had a judge tell me it was too clean but I have overheard comments about being to "greasy". When I come across a car that has a neglected engine compartment, I get "Scrubbing Bubbles" the bath tube cleaner and spray away, rinse with distilled water and then wipe.

Folding down the wet roof ... hmm, also, after the foam treatment I would imagine that protector is needed now.

Car looks nice, but I would be gutted by the kerbed wheels and scratch on the bumper though.

what do you think he charged for something like that ?

I agree with most of the comments above.. if it was £25 I would see it as ok, for £60 maybe not..

As much as I enjoy keeping my car as clean as possible, I don't have the skill or experience to confidently tackle things like scratches and swirls... especially on Jet Black. Some of those guys on Detailing World are insanely talented. Total respect and props to them... and I'd donate a kidney to find someone with an ounce of their skill here in Richmond, Va.

Come Spring, I'd love to treat my Coupe to a concours-worthy detailing. If anybody knows of a (truly) talented detailer in Virginia, please let me know!

Cheers!
