Whoops, my company payroll has messed up (I think :D ). Just got my payslip and my basic salary is double this month!
Well better let them know I guess, or should I?

My bonus was doubled a few months back, they noticed and reduced my pay the next two months to compensate .. that hurt :(

Tell them, and try to give it back. If they won't take it then hide it until next month and it won't hurt...

Isn't the increase because of the recent tax level adjustments? Mine was more this month too. Will all equal out in the coming months.

ah ha, this reminds me of something that happened to me a fair few years ago. i was off sick for a week during the year and instead of deducting a weeks pay from my salary, they added a weeks pay. so thats what they mean by sick pay hehehehe

The OP said it was double the norm... that would require a spectacular change in tax bandings

Yep, even considering new tax code and some internal job code alignments it cannot double my salary. Let's just say it made my annual salary from sub £100k to plus £100k

sit tight and see how much they pay you next month. maybe they forgot to tell you, you were so valuable to them, they gave you a secret pay rise

Better to be safe than it be picked up further down the line. If you accounts made a mistake one persons payments it's understandable, having double what you expect is not going to wash as an excuse if it ever comes up.

It's not like you wouldn't notice is ?

Good try though.... :D

I had a pile of extra cash in my pay slip, recently this is the second or third time it's happened I've been there over 20 years , I always phone wages to check and always it's a tax rebate ,I heard of too many horror stories of folks taking the money and running I've been there too long to prat about with my job and final sal pension and perks , always check as they will always get you if its a mistake
