Met up with me old chum Grant today at Trago Mills down in Newton Abbot. Had a cracking afternoon mooching around, fish n chips etc then came back to a smashed Z4.
Lovely lady called Holly who witnessed it had left a note on my windscreen, I called her and over came all the photos of the camper t_t.

I only do around 1200 miles a year, not safe anywhere.

If anyone recognises the camper let me know, Ill be doing a V888 with DVLA to get their address anyways..

Why are you fucking about doing all that rather than to the police with a witness, the photo evidence including the driver and reg number? :idunno:

A simple request o the DVLA stating it was a hit and run and they will provide to keepers details. It may cost a couple of quid. Always an option if the Police won't take action in what looks like a car park?

Good hunting

You can get these accident management companies to do the chasing. However, looking at the damage the bodyshop will go to town on an estimate to fix it.

It was me. I needed to get to the loo asap. Bloody Guinness. Besides, I don’t like red cars.

I keed, I keed. That sucks donkey balls.

It is k no or a police matter they will say as there are no injuries. Been there / done that, I had to extract / “persuade” the driver’s details myself from the driver at the time in a car park.

What a smart woman to get photos and get herself involved. They could well have got arsey when they saw her.

I wonder if the camper van is owned by the driver, or on hire?

I had similar when I was not present but someone saw my parked car hit. Initially police said not their problem, not sure what or how I convinced them that fail to stop and/or report is an offence. Went all the way to magistrates but the guy got off.

Yep, might be a grockle on holiday in hired van. Lots of them park up in the Totnes car parks along the river. I’ll keep my eyes open.

Sorry to here what’s happened Mark, hope you get a good outcome with them footing the bill as I’m sure that won’t be cheep.

Hit and run, go to the police. I hate parking in Trago Mills car park. :(

In my experience the police response would be something along the lines of "unless you have multiple videos, all clearly showing the drivers face, the vehicle they were driving AND THE accident actually happening then I am afraid that the only offence here is that you are wasting police time. Don't do it again or we'll arrest you."

I exagerate, but not by much.

Not defending the camper van driver at all, but chances are he (or she) didn't even notice they had done it. Until they stop and notice some damage on their plastic bus.
Anyone can drive a camper van that big on a normal licence. This case shows why there should be more regulation regarding driving these things. Mostly driven by retired coffin-dodgers too, which doesn't help IMO.
My neighbours have a massive camper van (it's about 40 foot long) and go all over Europe in it. He is 76 and struggles to drive his car, let alone the plastic bus! :?

Until CCTV and mobile phones with video were invented, I am surprised the Rozzers ever solved any crimes TBH. They certainly can't anymore! :x

Enquiries with the DVLA re ownership is the way to go followed by civil court action if the fail to play ball and cough up.

I've seen some UK paintless dent removal guys sort stuff looking as bad, might be worth a quote before going to a bidyshop

WTF

Thank goodness Holly saw what happened.

I hope you get a good outcome.

That's a sad end to a good day. Pretty sure you have enough there for the insurance company to sort that all out at his expense. No need to go spending time or money yourself with the DVLA. Just phone your insurance. Report it as a Hit and run with an independent witness and a photo. They should do the rest. We did exactly this when a woman hit MrsG's Mx5 in a car park and drove off. No photos, but and independent eye witness took there reg and that was enough to get the stupid cow.

Good luck with it.

They've hit it with more than enough impact to know they've hit it. The parking sensors would have also been going wild.

Campervan hire has got out of control in tourist areas. The roads and facilities just can't deal with so many campervans. Too many people can't drive them either.

The insurance policies on hire campers usually exclude wing mirrors, tyres, damage underneath, water damage, and glass. Some of the excesses are huge. I guess that tells you how often they get damaged.

The camper in this accident looks a one private owner from new.
