Nice Drive

Had a good drive up Loch Ness to the Black Isle today. Was nervous of festival traffic but set off early there and late back. Roads were fairly quiet which was good :D

Didn't get to do my wee detour at Drumnadrochit as this would have put me too near the festival but the Loch side road is good just would have preferred not to go through Inverness.

I grew up in Drumnadrochit! I need to go back there someday, the road to Inverness was the locals "time trail" when it wasn't clogged with tourists

I liked the Lochness road but like you Inverness itself was just a point on the map to get through (Fort William the same)
We drove south late morning in May but could imagine a winter morning early with no one around would make it even better along the shore road

The road was quiet tonight though. Got past everything until the final hill section before the Commando monument where there was a column of traffic for the last 10 mins.

At least this let the engine cool down

The locals say a good time from BP in the Fort to the bridge in Inverness is 55 mins. This is very fast though and is strictly an early morning run!

Everyplace has a road like that Herminator. In Dingwall it was the shore road or the Strath road and then later the Contin.
