I suspect it’s a crap app!

My wife’s app pinged up with a “quarantine for seven days” warning last week - Apart from her trip to Chapel last Sunday where no other iPhones have pinged we have been together !

Needless to say that’s she’s done her test and it’s negative but it has caused her some concern.

I suspect it’s a glitch and we’ve heard of similar instances.

If she has been asked to isolate for 7 days then the contact was 3 days prior to last Sunday as the isolation time is 10 days from the time of contact.
The app calculates the number of days isolation required always making a total of 10 days

Have done all that has been required of me since Covid struck me back in January 2020, including both jabs. However since the Govt backtracked and didn't free us, I registered my protest by deleting the App. Not much but I did feel better.

Added bonus is my battery life has improved.

I was never too confident of a Government not having glitches, so rightly or wrongly I never downloaded it!

Maybe I got that right.

The only reason I downloaded the App was I was hoping it might increase my chances of a bit of slap and tickle and buttock clenching for good measure :?

That not a very clever app is it?
It reckon that it must be a glitch / crap app - she had not been out for four days before it pinged!

Not saying it’s a clever app, just explaining how it’s supposed to work.
I’m only the messenger

I hadn’t realised there could be a four day delay!
ps, No criticism implied or intended

Is this the app that uses the proximity of phones to do its thing?
Do you have close neighbours? Just wondering if the neighbours phone could have possibly got close enough to your wife's one at some point.

In fact, thinking on those lines, what happens if the postman has the app and you happen to be within a few metres of your letter box when he turns up?

Some instances I have come across is when people in adjoining offices but a wall in between have been pinged.

The rules are if it actual contact is within a 1mt area then its 60 sec's if its in a 2mt area its 15 minutes and the issue with it saying 7 days depends on when the person took a test and then declared their first symptoms, if they appeared 2 days before the positive test then 7 days is the correct isolation period.

I used to work in Covid for the local authority - thankfully i'm ok now and have a real job

Teaching staff and even NHS staff are deleting the app (Telegraph today).

My mind boggles as to why anyone would have the app, especially as now all reasonable steps have been taken to vaccinate the vulnerable.

There will be variants for eternity. We just need to live and possibly die (ultra low probability) with the virus and get on with life. Standing by for the incoming again.... :fuelfire:

I read the stories of people deleting it today- seems like a lot of NHS workers and hospitality workers are getting rid.

My Mrs has the app.

From my understanding- when she gets popped (it's a when not if) I just have to get a test (negative) and have no symptoms and I am fine to leave the house.

From my understanding people who get "pinged" can either take the time off as unpaid, or use their holiday, get furloughed or stat sick pay.

I am self employed and could cope with 10 days working from home- it would be annoying but I could live with it. But if I was say a self employed construction worker who was a director of a limited company then I would struggle to see any benefit from having the app.
