Next gen Z4 may use Toyota GT86 platform!!

A little on the 'conjecture' side, but lets face it, the current e89 chassis isn't amazing, and the gt86 gets rave reviews in that area. So, sure, lets have a gt86 chassis with a bmw engine and interior, I don't have a problem with that. Having said that, having had Z4's for nearly 5 years now, I'm ready for a change when the right deal comes along. I'm still holding out for the 4 series coupe or a 6 at the right price.
 
I noticed a BMW advert featuring the 4-series has been running the last few days. It's not mentioned by name, but you can see '4-series coupe' on the number plate.

I think it looks great.
 
At least with 400bhp it wont be as asthmatic as the current Toyota....

Got to agree, after all the hype its dog slow.

0-60 in 7.5 secs and 8.0 secs for the auto, thats MX5 performance.

I think the looks are dated as well.


so.....not a fan :D
 
Despite the raving reviews - I've always been critical of the Toyota and Subaru.... on the basis that you can buy a Renault Clio for less money with more oomf!

I know that the Clio if FWD. However, in everyday driving.... how often do you go drifting? How often do you spank it round corners on the limit on public roads? Really? Not that often. Not surprising. How often do you press the pedal to the floor, resulting in a massive grin as you get pushed back into your seat? Lots? Too right :wink: Hence why I like horses under the bonnet 8)

seen an advert on tv today for the 4 series.... :driving: :driving: :driving: .......maybe when in a few years when im not a student and they aren't so expensive

Actually that makes a good point.

Where should you post stories like this? Lounge is non-Z4 related, Forum Discussion is about developing the forum, Other Marks is non-Z4 and that leaves the E85/86 Z4 and E89 Z4 boards?

Maybe we could do with a Future Developments/Concepts board?
 
I don't think it really matters for the odd conversation TBH, some people love to make a fuss out of nothing. Unless of course they announce its development and then its worth a section to really discuss it in detail perhaps.
 
It's also finding stories like that if you don't read all the boards because anything new Z4 related I never think to look in the non-Z4 Lounge area.
 
Most people seem to use the 'new posts' link at the top, hence why we get so many posts in the wrong places, not to worry too much about it tho...
