Newlands Corner Meet, Guildford - 16 July 2017

Sorry Tony, the Newlands meets have been put on hold for the foreseeable future.

I'm currently looking to source a new venue for us all as Newlands will become a pay and display car park if it hasn't already.
 
How about near the Wellington Statue in Aldershot, some nice roads nearby and pretty open space, I'm just up the road in Farnborough so drive past there and seems nice enough :thumbsup:

Sorry OP, I've been meaning to reply to your recent posts on this topic.

The Newlands Corner meets were organised by another forum member, but when I contacted him about a meet in July he said he was thinking about a change of venue because Newlands were going to start charging for parking (even though it is in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing there apart from the view and the café - but that's that National Trust for you)!

I began this thread for a meet in July, but in the end only RickRob and I turned up (plus a non-member from Warrington who just happened to park his Coupe there while he had a smoke before he visited his mother in Ripley)! :lol: We suggested he join, but I don't think he has - still that's his loss!

I didn't bother with August because the third Sunday was the 20th, and ZedFest was the weekend of 19/20 August so there didn't seem much likelihood of significant attendance - but it's a shame nobody else was there with you. :( I hope the drive and breakfast made up for it though. :thumbsup:

Anyway following on from that I hope I may have found an alternative venue and have suggested a meet next month - link follows:-

Sorry it has been in a state of flux just lately, but it would be good to see you in October if you can make it.

As this will be the first time at this location it's a bit of a test run - venue, time, date, etc. all variable according to what suits the majority, so the more people who turn up and give some feedback the better. :thumbsup:
 
Thanks actually the newlands corner project isn't going to happen now so currently there are no parking costs.

I have read that the project to install the play areas etc have been put hold. The parking charges however are looking to go ahead at some point this year.

I will post a meet for the second Sunday in October as it will be good to catch up with everyone.
