Great pics & write up as usual
What do you make of the Alpina exhaust note Paul ? My first enounter with one recently when i met up with "Number5" & it had a great tone that is way better than a standard M or 3.0 gives out

Thanks mr wilks. I've always been enamoured by the Alpina version ever since I followed Brian's on the National one year - that's a good way of seeing their capability. Brian's just squats down on it's haunches and blasts away - I love that. In my view they look particularly purposeful as well. Both Brian's and Baz's black Alpinas just look formidable, purposeful and very special in black - like navy destroyers - fast and effective.

With regards to the exhaust note - I asked Brian if he had a special exhaust fitted as, like you, I was impressed - he assured me it was standard - yep it's a gorgeous sound.

We have some other terrific exhaust sounds on the forum as well - sk93s (Ian's) four pipe built by Machine Monkey is a brilliant noise with a fantastically crisp yet smooth note and fabulous pops and noises on the overrun - definitely an attention getter and one I went to find out about when I first heard it

A similar set up on the lovely orangy-bronze wrapped Zed at this year's National - again a quartet of rear pipes - it sounded superb when we were following it.

Then of course there's Tony's ///M coupe - what a noise! It's quiet enough when not pushed but as the rev's rise it bellows and reverberates setting off car alarms as we pass - another aural delight. Seeing the capabilities of Tony''s black ///M coupe and Sammyz's red roadster///M ahead of me on the Wales run earlier this year is a memory that will stay with me a long time - fabulous road, fabulous noise, fabulous experience.

Great photos, write ups and most of all the roads looks great. :driving:

The roads are brilliant but the surface is sometimes poor - I find it's a little better at speed rather than at a cruise - we were discussing this in the Crown after and there was a suggestion that the suspension skips over the bumps at speed :?

You must have one eye on the rev counter then Baz or do you use your large sensor (backside) in the seat, to tell you when to change up or down?

Those roads look so inviting, interesting write up and love the pics

Thanks Marlon - it's a brilliant place to enjoy your driving - a lot less traffic than further south and a large county to enjoy and explore.

Yeah but what I mean is that (actually I can hear the sound of the engine) but I couldn't hear the difference in sound between two cars.
