Newbie

Hi guys thanks for a pleasant welcome, I am going to see a zed 3.0 2004 on Saturday morning. Can anyone give me any pointers what to look for listen for etc. It's going to be a summer car for me and a big investment . When I started to look at all the convertibles out there I just fell in loved with the Z4 and more importantly he misses did as well so that's half the battle. Really looking forward to Saturday now

Cheers guys

Good luck for Saturday.
Watch out for
Broken rear springs
Flooded roof motor
Cracked third rear brake light
Splits in air intake hoses
Noisy disa valve
Wet carpets,door membranes can leak
All these can be sorted relatively cheaply if your handy with a spanner,or some guys on here can sort these issues.
All best and happy hunting. :driving:

Pete, you've been directed to some good background - also keep in mind there are quite a few examples of the pre facelift 3.0 available, especially if you're willing to travel, so you can afford to be a bit picky. Can't expect perfection in such an older Zed but you can hold out for one that really floats your boat and has the spec you really want such as heated seats (a big help if, like us, you get the roof down bug all year round). Check brakes, as being a sports car they can be hard used and no point in having a few more hundred quid to spend after purchase so factor that in if required. Tyres too are expensive (figure £90+ fronts and £110+ rears for a decent non runflat staggered set up) so you don't want to be paying out too soon for them.

Hold out for a 3.0 litre if you are likely to resell - makes it easier as more sought after though there is nothing wrong with the 2.5 on the road (though there are two versions - get the higher bhp version!)

The usual service history should be in place but the service intervals are very long and you may find it surprising just how little servicing has been done. Ideally you want an enthusiast who has lavished lots of care and attention on their Zed and they are out there.

Good luck with your search

Hi and welcome.

All good advice above, none of which I knew when I bought mine, but I was just lucky! Only thing missed is go for one with a whippy aerial! :P

Hope that you find what you're looking for soon.as you may have worked out already, we are partial to a pic or two!

Congratulations. My first Zed was a 2.5 and it was fantastic. Just wait until spring, drop the roof, push the sports button and you'll experience all the joys.
