Hello this is my much loved Z, unfortunately the roof has let me down this summer, no problem going down but will not go back up. Does this mean it is a motor problem? I'm not very mechanical, so not sure where to start.

smiles, its fixable by a small band of heroes on this forum , but first you need to tell us where you are, and we can tell you where to to go !

Hi and welcome.

It looks like it is a 3.0Si, and those wheels look great - lovely!

As road warrior says your roof issues can be sorted for sensible money by a few people on here - which one depends on where you are.

Thank you for all of your comments, I am in wiltshire and have had my z for nearly 5 years and love it 😎

Hi and welcome - roadster well done

Roof issue are an easy fix now forum members have learnt how to do them you're taking big money from a BMW dealer to sort it but less than a steady 'night out' money if one of the five members who do roof motors sort it. It is a bit of a lottery regarding how far you have to travel - if you're in East Anglia it will be a couple of hours drive but just make it a day out - the motor move can be as quick as 30 mins - bringing them back from the dead takes a little longer! You may just be short of hydraulic fluid which is a very quick job if the motor is already in the boot (is it? - it will be on the left hand side in the pocket at the back; perhaps with a patch of carpet hiding it so the area looks flat) if not getting the motor moved is a good preventative measure before it gets soaking wet in the inner wing (most do) and dies.

I guess Number5 near Bristol is best placed - am I correct forum members?

Thank you for your advice, I will look the company up in the coming week and hopefully get her booked in . I spent yesterday morning cleaning the roof so she is looking lovely , just need it working now.

"Number5" is a forum member in the Bristol area, so just send him a Private Message to make arrangements for getting your roof motor sorted.

Don't think new members can send PM's until a certain post count is reached can they?

They can't, but I think the magic number is 3 so Jen should be OK now.
