Hi all.

Been following the forum for a while, thanks to all of you who contribute! I took the plunge about a month ago. A very well cared for 2003 3.0

I am planning on using it quite a bit, and have put on over 1k so far. I've had the roof motor moved, Vanos seals done (I'd hate to think I was missing out on power!) and a new DISA (I had occasional hesitation at low rev's (4 times in 1k miles), and thought I'd get it done at the same time as the other bits). Oh - and I also added an Aux-In on the stereo.

What next - MOT on Monday, so fingers crossed. I would like rid of the run flat's, and ideally a set of daily wheels. The 108's are original and very good, and I fear using them daily. Maybe some 107's of something else (easy to clean!).

Looking forward to the summer now.....

Welcome to the forum, following protocol nicely with pics on your first post
Good mods so far, the sooner the better ditching the run-flats  :driving:

Welcome to the forum, another clean looking early zed
I wouldn't drive around with your plates covered like that though, you will get pulled by the law
107's are a nice easy wheel to live with and won't rot out like 108''s
Where are you in the UK

Hi and welcome
Lovely looking zed
When I had my e85 I thought as you did , occasional
Lack of low end power. Did the disa myself , but after reading up on how to - vanos seals + ccv decided it was too much for my limited knowledge, then I had to decide , either pay the money for the fix and hopefully be happy enough to keep it a while? Or put the money for the fix towards an e89 .... I couldn’t convince myself I’d be happy so went for the e89 . I’m interested to know your thoughts on the vanos fix ? I know I’ve read a few people on here saying it made quite a difference? Just.... I’m never going to know now .... so what do YOU Think?

Hi and welcome.

Another smart looking Z4! I had 108s on mine but sold them while they were still in decent condition, because a refurb on a split-rim isn't cheap! But as you say they are easy to clean.

firebobby - the photo's are from the add when I bought it... but I knew I'd get flamed if I did not post and those were the only ones on my machine!

Dave 2 dogs - to be honest, I'd have liked to get stuck into those jobs myself, but knew it would be hard to find the time. I'd like to think I paid a fair price for the car, and have justified the 'mods' as making it more sellable should the need arise, or just giving peace of mind if not. To be honest, I have not noticed a lot of difference (Vanos & Disa both done at the same time). It may feel a bit smoother, but I am not sure if that is the placebo kicking in? The garage did however say that it was one of the cleanest engines (on the inside) they had ever seen... which is a lovely boost when you have just taken a gamble on a 16 year old car!

Wheels - I'll keep my eyes open, i'm in no rush, as I love the 108's, and am happy wearing out the runflats, but as it will be run all year round, and not cleaned as often as it deserves, I will keep an eye open for a bargain, in the hope of preserving the 108's.

That said - 1 month & 1k in, and I am very much enjoying ownership, and still can't find enough excuses to take the car out!

Thanks all for the comments - and I am located on the Oxon/Glos/Wilts border.

Good idea, wheels are for sale on here quite often.

Just a thought, but if it ever snows and you need to use it all year it might be worth looking for some wheels with winter tyres - RWD BMWs aren't too great in snow (especially on run-flats).

Welcome from NZ. I have the same year of Z. It originally came from the UK and has done approx 53,000 miles now.
You have a nice looking car, you'll find the forum a great place to find out what you need to know about the Z4's.

Hi and welcome to the forum. You car looks like a beautiful, cared for, original example.

I wish mine looked as good!
