Hi Folks,

I have been reading the forum for a while now but thought it was about time I posted, especially as I have finally bitten the bullet and bought this:

photo.jpg

I am looking into a few alterations:
1. Intravee.
2. Stainlnless exhaust, but not mentally loud...
3. Isofix for the pax seat. and ability to turn off airbag (Part of my bargaining angle to justify buying a 2 seater to my 5 month pregnant wife!!).
4. Also if anyone knows where I can get hold of an owners manual I would be very interested.
5. Waxing advice, dos and don'ts and how to get the best deap shine...

If anyone has any thoughts on the above I'd very much appreciate hearing them, I will post some better photos when I have cleaned her up properly...

Cheers

Very nice! Are they real CSLs?

Would love to hear a few different exhausts on the Z4M to get it a touch louder...

My car has the isofix/airbag stuff so presume you can retrofit it... you have 4 months to do it :D

Think BMW want £20-£25 for a manual. Mine came with the Z4M supplements but not the general Z4 manual which I think it's supposed to come with.

Wax...I use Collinite 476 I think: wash, dry, polish (Poorboys black hole for your car), then wax. Wax needs a day to cure apparently, so next wash you can use a detailing spray, I use a Zaino one.

I fitted the intravee so can help with instructions when you get your hands on one. The KCA420i can be modded to 'wake up' automatically when the car starts, I bought mine modded like so.

Enjoy anyways, where in the country are you?

PS Looks like you have a stubby aerial already, I've got one but left the original as it makes the car look like a remote controlled car :D

Hi Markos,

Yeah they are real CSL's... I love them, they really set it off, makes a massive difference I reckon... Also have the originals too which will be gathering dust for a while no doubt...

Mine is an 07 and I'm surprised it didn't have the Isofix as standard so need to look into retrofitting it, I saw a thread on it somewhere so need to look back again and find out...

Thanks for the advice on the polishing and manual, mine didn't come with the general Z4 one or the M supplement so need to those sorted, re polishing I've never been quite so motivated to get a good finish so am clueless of the best way to do it! Thanks for the advice I'll be buying some gear later today I reckon...

Also I'll let you know about the Intravee, do you have it set up with an ipod? I have an iphone 4 which I was hoping to hook up but it might make more sense just to have an ipod in there semi permanently. In terms of the phone it has bluetooth so that connects automatically (even if it is a bit crap to use!).

I'm based in North Hampshire/Surrey boarder...

Thought they were genuine, very nice!

Think the Isofix was just an option regardless of age... Might be a PIA to retrofit but good luck with it

I’ll see if I can dig out a pic and show you what mine came with regarding books/manuals.

I bought a 2nd hand 80gb iPod and that lives permanently in the storage area between/behind the seats. So much easier just to leave it there. The cable I have is very long so I do occasionally plug the iPhone in and stick it to the windscreen to use the TomTom app and have the instructions played through the speakers. BMW nav is a bit too clunky for me sometimes I’m afraid, even with the updated software...

My bluetooth is really good compared to the one in my previous E46 M3; I could hardly hear anything in the M3 but in the Z4MC it’s nice and loud and people can hear me OK thankfully.

Which black is yours, Sapphire, Ruby, Carbon? Definitely try the Poorboys Black hole, I’ll not be using any other polish on a black car again I don’t think! I use both PolishedBliss and Cleanyourcar for my cleaning bits and bobs by the way...

You’re not a million miles from me should you need a hand with the intravee... It will require a hole drilled in the back of the storage area! :o :)

Mine is the Sapphire Black and the leather is Champagne and piano dash, I love it even if I do look like a pimp!

Great shout with the ipod, I'll probs do the same, was your cable an extra? I'm guessing the intravee doesn't come with much...

Poorboys black hole it is.. thanks

You mention updating the Sat Nav... I had a slightly embarrassing moment last week when my Sat Nav froze, I took it to the local BMW service centre for diagnosis and when he ejected the CD a hooky copy popped out which probably explains the freezing! Where do you get the update from? It is better than the wife's Audi version at least!!

I'll PM you when intravee arrives, did you go for the Intravee II and Alpine KCA-420i iPod adapter? Definitely only want to be drilling 1 hole!!!

Mine too is Sapphire with piano trim but with bi-colour black/red seats; think I've out-pimped you :D

I'll drop you a line about updated software/2011 disc, hopefully it's just that copied disc you have that is the problem and not hardware.

Re the intravee, it came with the long cable so expect all come with it, it must be 3-4ft long. Intravee HAS to have the KCA 420i to work, ideally one that has been modded to wake automatically.

Got some info/pics here too:

These pics might help and give you an idea of what's involved. Typically it's a case of once you've done it once it would take half the time to do it again...

Hey Fragga
That's exactly the setup I'm looking for
the 19's look amazing.
So I noticed your interest in the exhaust....
Well it just so happens that my company BCS Automotive will be developing a high end valvetronic exhaust specifically for the Z4M - hence my desire to source one myself.
We recently completed a project on the BMW 1M which has an acute boom problem in the cab at around 70mph in top - exactly where you don't want it!
Answer, we used exhaust gas by pass valves and amended the silencer layout introducing a new center silencer. The result is amazing - understated sports tone at idle and low revs - which cuts loose as the car comes on boost completely bypassing the rear silencer, to reveal a truly titanic sound completely in keeping with the car's ethos.
Enough of the verbaling, if I can help feel free to get in touch.
Best regards
Nige
