Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to say Hi and hope to join you all in the lakes this summer if it's definately on ?

So...... 'Hi' everyone.

I've had my Z4 for about 6 months now and love it to bits. Just one problem has recently arisen and I'll try and post about it on the right thread (if I can being a 'newbie' ?)

The roof mechanism has just packed up and won't lower or raise. I had it to the local BMW garage and they say the hydraulic pump has gone :(

They say it's going to be £750 to replace - GUTTED ! (and no money to pay for it !!!)

So... anyone in the NW of the UK recommend any (ex) BM mechanics or anyone who does foreigners for a cheaper price ??

Anyone competent at fitting/repairing want to earn some cash ?

Thanks guys - hope to see some of you in the Lakes/Dales this summer ? - and hopefully have my roof fixed (lol) ?

Yours,

Jimdog (Jim).

Hello and welcome. Sorry to hear your first post comes with problems :(

As mentioend, there's a good DIY thread on here, a few members have used it as guidance and been succesful. You can get the motor on its own for c.£250-350 or less if you do lots of ringing around.

Hope you get it sorted ok

I can recommend Darren Wood in Bredbury near Stockport as an independent BMW mechanic - not sure if he does roof motors or not

Hi and welcome
sorry to hear about your woes.
Try Pete @ Autotech in Telford, I know it's abit of distance for you but you won't be disappointed by the service he provides.

Thanks for that James, I'll have a look at him and hopefully speak. Is he easily found on the 'net' (search engine ?)

Welcome along - hope you get the roof fixed before summer finally arrives

As tradition dictates let me be the first to say :

:worthless:

:D

Thanks for that Bing - how do I post pics like the one added to the bottom of your message (front of car ) ?

Hello and welcome along!

You need to do in in the user cp at the top of the forum pages. There's a tab for your profile and you can put photos on there for your signature. They need to be a certain size tho. (It tells you when you do it, can't remember now!) Click on 'edit signature' and you paste the links to your photos there.

:withstupid:

It does tell you when you do it, but also go to this thread and read down. Upload A correctly sized pic to something like Photobucket, get a link to the pic and put it inside
in your signature. Job done

If you want the pic to link to a thread or a web page when you click it as mine and (and other members) does then it needs to look like this in your sig :

the site you want to link to[/color]]

(no idea why that text has gone mental... )

Thanks for the info guys - and Carol :)
Sorry too II can't meet you at the lakes meet :( - perhaps another one sometime.
JH.
