Newbie - Z4 daily

Hi all,

Recently joined as I'm after a E85 Z4 3.0 as a new daily (bored of my current Audi S3, especially in this weather!). Agreed to buy one yesterday so frantically sorting out my NCB which is tied up in the 2 cars I already have, and need to somehow leave the S3 insured too until its sold.

Forum looks really useful and already made use of a few searches so thanks from me for that already :)

No pics of the Z4 but this is my weekend toy which means the Z4 is relegated purely to being a daily and/or covering weekend duties when Noble is off the road for winter

Cheers,
Alex

Welcome from another member who uses his Z as a daily.

Please post more pictures of the Noble for us to drool over

Welcome to the Forum, Z4's make very good daily drives
What are the performance figures for you gorgeous Nobel ?

Cheers guys, the Noble is mostly standard as far as they go but has few choice bits done, had to fit a new floor over winter and have fitted an intercooler etc. Goes in this week for an exhaust to be fabricated and fitted. Would imagine it to still be at stock power (350bhp) at the moment but hopefully once I've got the exhaust fitted I'll be able to get it remapped to approx 400, not really chasing numbers though (did that with a R32 GTR @500bhp) just want to enjoy it really and love how it drives as it is so don't want to ruin that.

Daily wise I've had 2x S2000's the last of which I sold to buy a more sensible daily but decided I don't need sensible just yet :)

Few more pics of the Noble;

Welcome to the forum. Nice wee collection of metal there. 8) A few PH guys I know have had to replace the floor. :o Have been tempted to get one a few times. Fortunately for my wallet I'm no spanner man. Plus still love my Zed too much to change it. :D

Welcome to the forum OP!

Love the look of your Noble - just looking forward to the photos of your Z4!

And make the most of the weather!

Ironically the Noble is a perfect example of man maths at work that started with a Z4M. Initially was looking at a replacement for my S2000 and getting rid of my R32 GTR which led me to a Z4M. That then escalated into stretching of budgets and then looking at V8 Esprits. Whilst on the search and disheartened by lack of good value/quality Esprits I then found my current Noble :) Do 95% of all spannering myself though :)

The Z4 I'm buying sadly isn't where i want it to be and needs a lot of work to get closer to what I want/need the car to be but it'll get there. Will share a few pics over the next few days but sadly won't have a weekend to work on it for a while.

Top will always be down, even in light-medium rain as long as you're moving enough I'd hope the Z4 is like the S2000 and keeps you dry :D

Yes - it takes a down pour of biblical proportions to get wet when driving fast with the top down, the trick it to keep moving

Perfect I'll stick to that then... do need to work out how to fix my drivers side heated seat mind :(

Picked up the Z4 last night and I'm a little sad to say it drives pretty terribly at the moment. Tramlines like you wouldn't believe. Plan is to fit standard wheels, new tyres (current ones are old) and maybe re-fit stock suspension instead of the Eibach springs and see if that cures it :)

Quick picture but will be making lots of changes pretty sharpish so will start a thread as/when I do :)

Are the tyres runflats?. I agree those alloys need to go.

On the black wheels the fronts were runflats and the rears were new budgets

But at the weekend I did a lot of driving :driving: and picked up a set of stock wheels and a set of MV3's with winter tyres on

Stock wheels on, front and rear light tints removed, new rear discs, new rear pads, new rear shocks (one was lazy) and it's good to use for now :)

Big improvement, but the wheels in the pic are 108's not MV3's :?

Sorry badly worded, picked up these 108's with new tyres and then separately bought a set of MV3's with winter tyres. They may be used on my other halfs E90 though, shall see how hard winter hits this year :)

He has bought both! OP looks loads better- always amazes me how people can spend money to ruin their car as the original owner clearly had!
