Newbie Woman Driver From Norfolk

Hi although I'm not new to bmws I'm new to the z4 on Friday I came home with a 62 reg and I'm now asking myself wtf was I doing. After owning a fiesta prior and not realising the front sensors aren't on all the time unless activated for parking within an hour of owning it I'd nearly wrapped the bonnet round a bollard. Anyhow I've worked out how to activate pdc for parking and I'm the worst Parker in the world so y I got a car with such a huge bonnet is beyond me but I've realised If i go to a car park with lots of spaces I'll be fine. Well Friday I was driving in comfort mode and the dash was lighting up for me to change gear. I don't necessarily pay attention to this but yesterday while out still in comfort mode I realised the change gear bit has vanished?? Now I'm being over the top by presuming I've bought a faulty car and I know it's something I don't realistically need but because I knew it was there and now it's gone and I can't work out why? Before I make myself look like a bigger moron by taking it back to be looked at I'm just wondering if there's anything I can try first?? TIA for the help,

Don't beat yourself over the front pdc function incident , i did the very same with the E89 i have now  wrongly assumed it worked like the ones in our C Class  ie automatic
Anyhow welcome to the forum , any pics of the car always welcomed

Welcome!
And please don't be put off by the overwhelmingly male-dominated demographic around here! We're mostly harmless and unassuming unless provoked

The E89 really has a shift light?? :o

And yeah, pics please, its the rules

Love the car Naomi, welcome
Didn’t know you could mess about with the parking sensers, I nearly clipped my front wall the other day
I’ll have to find out how everything works on this 😳
Hope you enjoy the car and roof down summer

Dave 2 dogs....the pdc button apparently If you press that when parking and haven't activated reverse it triggers the sensors so I got told on a Facebook forum.

Very nice, welcome onboard & nice choice of colour.

Am sure once you’ve got the hang of it you’ll be very pleased - happy hooning :driving:

Hi and welcome - few of us around Norfolk  but sadly a lot of no wavers/not forum members as well

Hi Naomi, welcome to the mad house. :) Lovely lot on here. I left the car to park it self a few weeks back. :? Unfortunately it chose to reverse into my neighbours wall and shove it onto his front lawn. Next time I realy must use the handbrake. All sorted now.

Hello Naomi, welcome to the forum. I have no idea where Norfolk is but so what. There are Z4 people all over the world. Enjoy!

Hi Naomi as Crazy Harry says..................................

I'm in Sprowston, Norwich!

Will look out for you if you are about this area!. Norfolk is flat but that looks like a very steep hill you are parked on!

Welcome Naomi,
With regard to the gear indicator, check both keys. On our E89, using one key brings up the gear shift indicator (and Radio 2) whilst the other doesn't (with radio 5!!) so it may all be down to Key profile settings.

Hi Naomi

Fellow noob here, in fact so new I don't actually own a Z4 yet...welcome and hope you enjoy being on here

Looks like a lovely car

Hi, the gearshift display can be turned off/on by scrolling to the blank screen on the obc and holding the end of the stalk in until the arrows appear/disappear according to how you want them

I don’t seem to have that option on mine. Would that because it’s DCT or because it’s a 59?

...so I got told on a Facebook forum.
I was one of those who mentioned it on FB 👍

I live down in Wokingham, near Reading but I am from Norwich and return there regularly to visit my family.
