Newbie with some questions

Hi, I'm new here, and am currently considering buying an early 3.0 Z4, I have read various posts, but have a few questions that I hope you can help me with;

Are all of the early (03-05ish) 3.0's SE's?
What is the standard ventilation system, climate or manual A/C?
Are all cars prep'd for a hardtop?

The things that will be important to me, spec' wise are;
Cruise control
Steering wheel audio control
Bluetooth phone
iPod integration

I believe that both the cruise and audio controls can be easily retrofitted. What about the phone? I have fitted Parrot and Nokia carkits to various cars, is the BMW option any better / worse, does it utilise a phone button on the steering wheel? Do you get better phone integration with the nav setup?

What about iPod integration? Were there three audio options from new, standard, hi-fi and HK, with iPod integration not being possibly with hi-fi? I think this is what I have read, but am seeking confirmation. Does the satnav system provide better iPod integration? My MIL has an 07MY X5, which has great iPod integration, something like that would be great, but is that realistic? Also does the nav system come with iDrive and the associated vehicle integration?

On a more serious note, what are the typical costs of an oil service, insp1 and insp2? What major works are included in these services?

I am sure that most of the answers are on here somewhere, but I am only just finding my way around. If you can point me towards a link to answer any of the above, I would be really grateful.

Thanks for your time, and sorry for all of the questions!

Welcome to the forum :D

I believe the SE moniker was introduced shortly after release but didnt change anything :?

ventilation system on 3.0's is climate control
UK cars are hard top prepped

Cruise is a very easy retrofit on the early cars (up to Oct 2004) as the wiring loom is present, takes 10 mins.
Others on here have done the steering wheel control...

BMW bluetooth does use the steering controls, and is better integrated with the NAV screen because you then get to see more of your contacts at one time. Parrot et al may be a better solution if you have other bluetooth devices such as tomtom's... mine dont sit well together :(

AUX is also an easy retrofit unless you want more control over your ipod.

oil service is about £200 at a dealer, inspection a little more.

Happy hunting :thumbsup:

Cheers, I want full iPod control, so I guess that limits / complicates things. We have a Parrot in our CR-V, and it is great, but I would prefer a better integrated solution if possible.

I would try and find a car with M Seats if possible as they can be hard to find later if you wish to change
Also some come with a hardtop which can save about £1,000

Oh, also, were ISOFIX points in the passenger seat available, if so, was this an option, and was it commonly taken up?

Thanks in advance!
