Newbie with an ex-Copart 2003 3.0

Hi everyone, newbie here. Picked up this 96,000 mile 2003 3.0 manual from Copart a couple of months ago with light front end damage. Back together, MOT'd and now in daily use, but still lots of stuff to do. Been mucking around with cars most of my life, but this is the first Z4 I've owned so finding my way around it slowly. Looking forward to getting involved in some discussions and getting to know you all.
Also have a 96 TVR Chimaera which is an ongoing and never ending project, and the 2011 XC90 and 2006 MX-5 in the background of the photo. The MX5 was also a Copart car (£800) just over a year ago, and has just taken us to Spa and back for the F1 without any issues.
Jobs on the list for the Z4:
Find an oil filter that fits it (The ones both GSF and Opie supplied against the reg no were much narrower than the one on the car, and the internal diameter was too small to fit over the cage on the housing cap.
Proper clean and machine polish
Wheel refurb and put them back to silver
Ditch the spacers
Fit the standard exhaust I picked on on eBay. Not sure if the one on it is an aftermarket or has had the silencer messed with. Sounds lovely at idle / light throttle but way too boomy under hard acceleration for my liking. I'm getting old. :)
Find some way of fitting a double DIN stereo.
Cheers

I recognise your car from another forum, anyway welcome aboard.

There used to be a couple of members on here who would modify back-boxes and remove some of the innards so maybe your car has one of those fitted.

Sorry I don't know for sure but I think fitting a double-DIN head unit is challenging. People do seem to have found ways of streaming using the connector for the CD multi-changer if that helps. Hopefully someone a bit more tech savvy will be able to offer some advice!

Thanks everyone.

I bought this with the intention of fixing it and flipping it, but sometimes with a Copart car, you instantly see a really nice car underneath the dirt and damage, and this one was one of those. Absolutely everything works, A/C is ice cold, the roof motor relocate has been done, and it drives really nicely. Unusually for a Copart car, it came with two keys, book pack, a fully stamped service book and a few spare bits in the boot. Mileage not daft at 96k either.

It had ABS and traction lights on, and the scanner pointed to a left front ABS sensor. Replaced it, cleared the codes and it's been fine since. Failed MOT only on a lollipop bush which I replaced, and it passed but advised again on the same bush as it was too soft. Decided to just buy a new arm with a lollipop bush already on and fitted that, so to all intents and purposes it has an advisory free MOT now. Car owes me less than £1500 as it stands, so a bit of a bargain.

Mrs has been driving the ex Copart MX5 I repaired last year as a daily for the past 14 months which has been ultra reliable, but being a 1.8 it's a bit gutless, and being a 5 speed car, is horribly buzzy on the motorway. Having taken the Z4 to work for the first time, she came back and forbid me from selling it, so that was the end of that conversation! :)

I put a Pioneer double DIN CarPlay/Android Auto head unit in the MX5 which will be coming back out again to sell it, and it would be really nice to find a way of getting it in the Z. There's a guy in the States apparently 3D printing replacement upper panels with the vents pushed out to the sides and a double DIN slot in the middle which I need to look into. The car has a Sony aftermarket single DIN unit in it at the moment which does Bluetooth and will be fine for now, although I need to install a mic for calls. The original "BMW Business" head unit was in the boot, so I have that as well. Radio reception is shocking so that's another job for the list.
