Sounds interesting.

I for one would be very interested to hear how you get on with this. Sounds like you have plenty of experience and talent available to make this happen.

The M benefits from various parts that you didn't get on your SE, but I'm guessing you will be changing brakes, suspension, diff etc to try and control the v10 anyway, so you actually saved yourself money by not starting with the M.

Be great to have a build diary thread with lots of pictures if you can do it Stevie?

Best of luck with your project! :driving:

Peter :)
I just need to sort out my I phone so I can post up pics direct while I'm working on it. Is this possible?

If you get the photobucket app on your phone, you should be able to upload them there and copy the link to your build thread?

Not an expert myself, so welcome any input from others!

We NEED to see this build!!! :driving: 8) 8)

Quick photo of v10 in my mockup for impreza chassis, soon to be pulled out and installed in a far better environment http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y450/SW_Motorsport/null_zps524c0eb4.jpg

.
This should work better.

Should have it out this week and old chassis pushed out to the compound. I would like to use the z4 for a while before I haul it apart, at least see the summer out. My other half did make a comment " and I hope your not going to mess around with this one" she knows me way too well

I'll be watching this project with great interest.

Love things like this, especially when someone else is putting in the hours to make it happen :)

Quite bulky but not much heavier than 3.0 six cylinder 217 kIlos against 241 kilos for the v10.

Interesting.

Should mean the weight distribution won't be affected too significantly? Wonder what the gearbox difference will be?

Glad it's getting put back where it belongs, in one of Munich's finest!

Look forward to reading about how you get on once you've enjoyed the stock car for the summer of course (makes sense given the nice weather at the moment! :driving: )

The 6 speed boxes shouldn't be to different in weight. The m3 6 speed is 46 kgs and very similar sizes to z4. I'll keep putting photo's up of work being done, will look into fitting my Lamborghini 8 pots and 362mm discs and bells first.

If that little lot doesn't stop it dead in it's tracks, nothing will!!!!

Look forward to seeing the pics.

What is the story with wiring looms? Are you able to use the Z4 engine loom, or will you need to transplant the V10 loom?

Are you thinking stock ECU with a piggyback, or maybe a standalone like the SYVECS?

:)

Wow and well done

I have been thinking about a V8 swap in the future ( just to keep costs down ) very interested in seeing this progress. If you need any bits machining up let me know. But it sounds as though you will have contacts for that

How are you going about eclectics? That the only thing that concerns me about a project like this.

Once done please come on a cruise, love to see and hear this monster you should get a Z10 badge for it

Can we have some pics of the mazda, I had a mx5 mk1 and regret selling it

Hi Peter. The company Specialist components have a stand alone ecu called Tornado 2. Google them you will be impressed.
You send the engine loom they terminate it to fit there ecu, supply base map and it'll run 525bhp standard. Job done and you can map it to your own specs. It runs all factory sensors, dual vanos, dual fly by wire and mafless all for £2000. Syvecs struggles to cope with all those inputs and you still need to get custom loom, oh and map it as we'll. They also do it for the v8 engine now. More food for thought!

Pics of MX5 As I said earlier mx5 now running 380bhp/330ft/lbs, it can run more boost and haven' t switched the water and methanol on yet,but the 6speed box is on the very limit. This car was at totb 2 weeks ago at boot camp( Saturday session) and came third in rear wheel class with my sons piloting it. We were there for fun because we had handling circuit, drag, and top speed all for the measly sum of £75 per head and all day. Quality.

Hi what machining facilities do you have to hand always looking for talented people to help design parts/ cad design.

Loving your work on the MX5.

Bet that's a blast to whip around in with those kind of numbers on tap! :driving:

Thanks for the info on the ECU company. Sounds like a great solution for the money involved.

I'll be keeping a very close eye on your progress with this. Not something I wouldn't rule out myself for the future (always good to have someone else go first though!! :P ).

Look forward to reading more as things develop. :)
