Newbie with a serious tuning disorder.

The CUPs will be fine as long as you don't try to drive in the wet.... or the cold... or, basically, anywhere in the UK for 90% of the year

I normally run all my motors on track orientated tyres, even transit connect has them. Only kidding on the van.
I was rather shocked at how little rubber comes on the cups 3mm on top off the wear indicator :( B56B71EC-C4E0-4CDC-9DF5-FD302A04784B_zpsvofaajrs.jpg

Oh my word :o

When do you think you'll be able to start her up ?
Bing I'm trying my best to have it running this month. The area I was dreading is the wiring, but my new friend Scott has taken a massive weight of my shoulders and simplified the night mare. Again Scott thanks.

As I've buttoned up the the front panel and fully finished the rad setup, next up the oil cooler. This is a remote set up that has a feed and return from the engine. There's a remote mount with a thermostat sandwich plate that runs to a large oil matrix. I've used braided lines with AN 10 fittings for all the oil arrangement. Where the filter sits I'll cut an accesses panel that's removable to aid oil changes (remember this project will be used, don't do show room diva's).A55EF645-0B37-45F6-92F0-EE92FA6D6277_zpsnfrkuzmt.jpg1A99EE75-AAA0-4817-9056-FBF195236E11_zpshgc9m8sl.jpg

Probably be early next year at some BMW event, If anyone can recommend one I can make plans?

Once I finished the oil side, I could complete the induction setup 9873DAEF-B09F-4FE7-8B52-03FEFF4FA2AE_zpsrosa3pqx.jpg18A9E690-3693-4922-BF65-763584381A85_zps375sldue.jpg
And with the bumper casing placed on E453793F-FF8C-4F8A-A6A7-8966BF2839DC_zpsfkzwktoh.jpg5EC9AB30-A20B-4E40-80DB-1EBBFC4C60FA_zpsavejlswa.jpg
The last pic is looking through where the head light should be.

Yes your right its a shame BMW dont push the boat out a bit and make this sort of more extreme limited editions of their sports car division.
But then we would not need guys like you to stretch your spannering abilities,
So you Keep devolping the models they should have built  your doing great,

I've had so much pleasure putting my project together that I'll certainly look at doing further BMW projects. As in previous posts I build high performance engines mostly for Impreza's and Lotus, which keeps me seriously busy. E89 looks way to enticing and would work very well with M3 V8 mechanicals :driving:

I'm really enjoying this thread, the project is stunning so far.

Just one question though, with the intakes immediately behind the front grill like this, won't you be sucking in a whole heap of water if things get a little damp?
Won't that cause issues?

You'd be surprised at how little water actually goes through the vents, anyways with the cups I've put on the motor fair weather looking like preferred conditions.

You may have to put warning on your grill to prevent young kids walking in front of the car during start up in case they get sucked in :)
