Newbie with a serious tuning disorder.

Hi. Thought I'd better post up on my original thread as I started to post up on E85/85 and this could be confusing.
So another update on my V10 project.
Areas I've covered are full strip down and then looked at tidying up the under bonnet look, so I prep it myself and shook a few cans at it. Rather impressed at what's achievable with good quality rattle cans.4046ca84d7b55a834bd3a7656a3b0ca2_zpsd9186fdf.jpgcbb5cdce3aadbbace142b5cbd78e0eb4_zps9f02b115.jpg
The front panel has had a lot of work done to make a genuine M5 radiator work and I've incorporated my induction pipes also.d1152ec3966a00bf38a1e7a04ec81e7c_zpsf09c47d0.jpg
Engine crossmember has also been completed and powder coated before I refitted it.146fc3d4bc7a7d1c8d6f29f7ce0ef96d_zps69e04d8e.jpg
Other areas I needed to finish were the battery box and install.3539B882-8104-415D-9225-A530CC15CA1E_zpsqzjtsfyj.jpg

The battery needed to cope with running a high compression V10 engine ( 12/1 ratio as standard) so I fitted the best available a Braille battery. It's the smallest heaviest battery I've ever seen with 1200 cranking amps. Awesome.
As for the ECU I've purchased a Specialist Components Tornado 2 standalone setup. They modify the standard engine loom that you supply and when installed you only have to tie up 14 wires to make it run.
Not there yet but I've got a very helpful BMW top tech hopefully sorting out the issues.61CF2CF4-FACB-4C52-AF6D-56D3F20476A8_zpstfhrbchk.jpg

The engine loom has been refitted and I've had to make a new offside heat shield as it was missing when bought.

This is the engine and box finally ready to be installed for the final time, that's if I've done my homework correct ?

The gearbox has had the fork arrangement modified and I made up a custom slave cylinder to suit. The clutch has been replaced with a new item for peace of mind. I've enqired about up rating the drive plates to puck arrangement for more endurance. Seems doable according to my friends at CG clutches.36eade05e0b781aaef7d8c59496d8297_zpsdf766b8b.jpg

One major problem I came a cross was no way to monitor oil level as it's normally monitored by the dash on the M5.
I came up with a dip stick from an Elise K series engine and adapted it to suit with both oil level that BMW state is recommended (was 9.3ltrs, now 8.8ltrs). At least if its between those levels I know it's got plenty oil. This is my dip stick setup.8948B8EC-69CE-4D0B-B688-2E8CCE503586_zpsefuwdnpl.jpg
The pics don't do it justice as to how well it's suitable for my install.

Looks like some sort of futuristic fusion reactor crouching in there... Love it 8)

The fuel system is another area I've needed to address as it needs 5bar of fuel pressure and a pump capable of running close on 600bhp

There's still a bit of plumbing to be done and the fuel rail has been fitted with a stainless steel dash 6 fitting so as every fuel line is braided.

Its in and everything thing lines up. My clutch arrange works fine, just need to re bleed it as there's air still in the system. M5 twin plate clutches aren't light weigh by any means, just need to build up my muscles.

This is top modding porn .. :-) Superb, I love it!

What have you had to do to the front suspension/damping and brakes to take account of the extra weight?

I am drooling all over this. I am planing to spend the next 20 years playing with my car. And learning some of what you seem to know so I can do something similar one day. Well done you
