Hi all, I am new to this forum and I am the proud owner of my first Z4.
I have been using this forum for some time now gathering information for my Z4 purchase. This is an excellent site with a wealth of information that made my purchase much easier!
I first drove a Z4 a couple of years ago when my friend had one as a courtesy car from BMW. I really liked it but was happy with my E46 330. However I recently noticed how much the prices of Z4's had dropped and this started me thinking and after a couple of months saving and browsing I have finally taken the plunge and bought one.
I decided early on that it had to be a 3.0 and it had to be a manual. My colour preference was Sterling Grey and I really wanted a car with Sat Nav and electric/heated seats. I was also hoping to get the electric flip mirrors as I had those on my E46 and I found them very handy. Obviously the car had to have full service history etc.
During my browsing I came across a lovely Sterling Grey 3.0 on Pistonheads. It had everything I was looking for (Nav, heated/electric seats, electric flip mirrors) however it came up just a few weeks too early as I needed to save a little more (I was reluctant to use a credit card or loan). I kept an eye on it in the vein hope it wouldn't sell before I had the funds available, but alas I logged into Pistonheads one day to find it was sold. On viewing this very forum a few days later I saw a post by Yamiuchi in the Newbies section proudly displaying the very same car! I was a little gutted, but continued to search...
A couple of weeks later I found another Sterling Grey 3.0 advertised at a dealer not too far from me. I went, I viewed and I purchased!

I completed my first mod a couple of days ago by installing brand new exhaust trims. In the future I would like to upgrade to sports seats and a sports steering wheel. I would also like to get some Aero side skirts installed as I feel they really suit the lines of the Z4. Next on my list though is getting rid of the run flats! It has very good Bridgestones all round but I am not a fan of run flats at all. I will be getting these changed over the next month or so hopefully...
I have to say I am really impressed with the Z4. My last 4 cars I have had have all been 3 series (E36 328, E36 328 Sport, E46 328, E46 330 Sport). The E46 330 was a great car. It was pretty quick and it was also very comfortable as a cruiser. The Z4 is a very different. It is much rawer and definitely not as comfortable as the E46, however it more than makes up for that by the way it accelerates, handles and sounds! It really is an outstanding car when applying the beans and I have so much confidence in its cornering ability compared to the E46. It can be a bit crashy and fidgety on bumpy roads but I am hoping getting rid of the run flats will help with this.
Here are a few pictures I have managed to take over the last week or so...
I hope you like!
